Question about Coleman Hot Water On Demand

Open Question

I am having trouble with my coleman. i charged it before, just to make sure it was good to go. the unit say's it is fully charged, i then put the pump in a full 10lt bucket of water, connected the gas bottle and turn the gas on; then turned the knob around to hot but nothing happened. so i checked the battery which has 6.2 volts, and when the charger is plugged in it goes up to 6.5 volt so i guess that part is ok. is there a fuse in this unit? i'm not sure if the pump is faulty or if there is any power at the outlet of the main unit. Is the center pin of the pump cord positive or negative. this is only roughly 3 years old and has only been used on about 4-5 camping trips away.

SOURCE: Have three coleman hws same problem on last

It will probably be one of two issues. Either the waterflow sensor is not working correctly or the propane valve connected to to control knob is stuck shut. The water flow sensor is located on the side of the copper element (grey box) check that it spins easily. The propane valve is attached to the control knob by a long metal wire and should turn freely as you turn the control knob to warm

I was given a coleman Powermate 400 watt inverter I hooked it up to a car battery and the fault light immediately started flashing I do not have a manual based off this being given to me.

I'm sure you can easily get a PDF manual on-line somewhere.
My guess is that sometimes these inverters will give an error if you do not have something plugged in creating an electrical draw

We modular home in 2008 with a coleman furance model number DGAA090BDTB we have had nothing but trouble with the furance, the latest thing we found out the heat exchanger was cracking. We have had...

if the heater is a 2008 also then there should be a warranty still on the heat exchangers, i have installed modular units such as coleman ,intertherm, and nordyne common modular home units inthe past and at minimum the heat exchanger should have a manufacture warranty of at least 10 years on it... and up to 20 on the heat exchanger not exactly sure what the warranty is on this but can guarentee it should have at least a 10 year warranty...call manufacture with your model and serial number and they can give you warranty...then get a reputable company out to do the repairs...good luck to you that really stinks

My unit doesnt pump and the fire will only light for a couple seconds

Does the low battery light come on straight away even though it is fully charged? My unit did this and I found the impeller for the pump stuck. Try taking off the filter off the end of the pump get a nail or long screw and spin / free the impeller and try and use the coleman again. If this works I suggest cleaning the unit as per the book with clr etc

Coleman Junk!

Batteries are still evolving and have not been perfected yet. Some batteries still develop 'memory'. This can be 'cured' by discharging battery completely to dead. Then recharge fully. Do this at least two times.

Need solar panel monitor for coleman TSR

Wire it direct to batteries. It puts out very little amperage, so not to worry about overcharging the batteries. It's only basically a trickle charge.

You may have a low pressure or high pressure switch tripping out the board as well. You might try cleaning both the indoor (evaporator) coil and the outdoor (condensing) coil. Be sure to turn off the power source before servicing this.
