SOURCE: Screen is all Shades of Red....

You need to remove the front tv panel, search for the screws right behind the screen and speaker area on the sides of tv. Should be four of them, carefully remove the lower have/quarter and you will find a control box, 6 knobs. Try adjusting them to clear the problem, each color has its own knob, be sure to mark their original position befor adjusting. When you find the red adjustment knob, you should be able to turn it down enough so that it doesnt overpower the rest of the colors. Good luck.

SOURCE: thin shade on top of screen on the toshiba

it's a faulty light engine. Toshiba usually does replaces those for free because they sold with a faulty part. Had mine replaced for free last year. Check your serial number on this page:

...and if it checks out, give them a call!

My sony grand wega gives a blue shade on the black background which is the problem

HI, Check the menu set up of the TV. There should be an alignment feature that aligns the blue, red, and green colour projectors. If the blue is out of alignment that is likely why you can see it on the dark backgrounds. The set up normally puts a white cross on the screen and you select each of these colours and then move the cross over the white on with the arrows on your remote. Once all are aligned correctly you shouldn't be able to distinguish between different colours and hopefully this should get rid of your blue shade.

The pictureshave shades of greenish-yellowish

It sounds like you have a convergence problem; there are 2 STK-392-110 IC'S THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED; sometimes there is a resistor or two damaged by them; Cost depends on if you can do this repair yourself---parts cost less then 20 dollars on Ebay---most shops will do this repair for about 300 dollars---keep in mind this is the slow time of year for TV repair shops---i have fixed dozens of hitachi's (43uwx10b etc) for about 200 parts and labor--its a easy set to do this repair on and takes about a hour.----shop around in your area---200 is less then a new set will cost you and this is about the only problem these sets ever have.

if this has been helpful give me a vote here; I do this for free. ALSO: IF YOU HAVE MORE QUESTIONS OR NEED DIRECT ASSISTANCE:

I like the HItachi sets---I OWN TWO OF THEM.
