Question about HP DeskJet 940c InkJet Printer

My color cartridge does not utilize its full color spectrum. all my print jobs are green. black and white works fine. I've already changed out the cartridge twice. Please advise! thanks.

You may have a clogged printer head. Try using HP's cleaning utility.

In general, you can access the printer's maintenance option at CONTROL PANEL, PRINTERS AND FAXES.

Right-click the desired printer model, then click PRINTING PREFERENCES.

Look for the MAINTENANCE tab. The options may not be the same, depeding on the brand of the printer. Run the head cleaning utility.

Test printer by printing a test page. Repeat the process if it doesn't give you the correct output.

Also, try to run the ALIGNMENT utility.

Get the esp 2170 to not print light green instead of black ? I keep on replacing cartridge , to no avail !


replacing a cartridge, while the nozzles are blocked won't help.
Realise the printer will mix there colours to get "black" on the paper. So even a full cartridge, can't make the other colours black till the blockage is gone.

Please try this. If you have ink cleaning fluid, (only for printer ink) use that, if you dont have cleaning fluid, use clean water.
Open the printer as if you replace a cartridge. Remove the black one and look tot the bottom of the cartridge holder. There is a little pipe, where the ink should go in. put some drops water or cleaning fluid in there leave it a few minutes. with a tissue dry it and again insert some drops of water or cleaning fluid. Then put in a cartridge and give the printer a black and white print job. Like print a few A4 papers. Let it print till the black comes back. Can take up to 4 pages A4. I hope this will unblock the nozzles.
Please even if you don't need to print, switch the printer on at least once a week. And even better, let it do a bit of printing every week. This will save a lot of frustration.

The first thing to check would be your print utility. Make sure that it is aware that there is a black cartridge installed. If you've gone through the cleaning process, try printing a test page and see if that will print the black. If not, it is either a setting in your utility telling it not to print in black and white, or a hardware issue with your printer. I will look up some documentation for your make and model printer to see what else the problem might be. Please advise with any changes when you check the print utility.

I need to print a lot of only black and white documents, I have full cartridges of black ink but the color is empty. For some reason it keeps printing the black off the color cartridge. I need to find out...


Since I don't know what operating system you have on your computer, here are the steps for all Windows operating system from Canon for your printer. If these don't work, let me know but usually once you change the settings for black and white only, it works fine.

I have a full black ink cartridge and no color cartridge and it won't print - black and white text.


In the Printer properties
There is an option like:
Print in color Print in Black and white (it may be different wording for different printers)
Change it to print in B&W
When you get your color cartridge remember to change it back to color - Normally it should be left in color.

HP 932 RED LIGHT STAYS ON


The light you describe is the ink light.
When that light is blinking, try this.

Turn on the printer. Open the front cover and look at the carrier for the ink cartridges. There is a white arrow right above the latch for the color cartridge.
Once the carrier stops moving, the white arrow should be pointing to a symbol which represents the problem (the reason the light is blinking.) Examples are low ink black, low ink color, sick black ( replace ) , sick color ( replace ).

IF you have just replaced your black cartridge, you might need to replace your color cartridge too.
This printer will not work without both ink cartridges installed and full.
You cant print with a full black and an empty color cartridge unfortunately, even if you only want to print black.

I have a epson stylus printer C65 series. I ran out of black ink so i changed the ink cartridge and it will only print colour not black now.


I have an Epson stylus 6000 series, second hand but was working just fine. I changed the ink cartridges and now the color won't print. Utilities shows all cartridges full, but only black and pale green-blue print. While it was printing color it was drinking the ink, but that's another story.

Possible to print only black when colour cartridges are empty?


This printer does not let you print if even one of the cartidges is out of ink. I suggest you replace them and then in the printer properties change your settings to the way you want color to be spent.

I have a xerox dc12 with error message please turn machine off and on again 9-363 have tried several times but no good! what else can I do?


That's a process problem with that machine.
May require a service call .ON and OFF is pretty much all a customer can do and wait for it to setup.
NOTE: The problem occurs because of the trickle development system in the machine, making extended lengths of black and white copies / prints does not allow the black developer housing to purge itself of excess waste Toner (Dry Ink) and Developer. There are two solutions for the problem:
  • Make 1,000 copies / prints of a black and white job, then make 150 copies / prints of full color. Continue making 1,000 copies / prints of the black and white job, then 150 full color, and so on, until the entire black and white job is complete.
  • Make extended jobs in groups of 100 by making 100 copies / prints of the black and white job, then allowing the machine to cycle down (return to 'Ready') and making the next 100 copies / prints. Continue in this pattern until the entire black and white job is complete.
