Hello Mary,

I understand that you do not understand how to operate you wet/dry vac. The vac works the same way as a traditional canister vac, the difference is that it will **** up solids and liquid. If the vacum is being used to **** up liquids you need to remove the filter. It is not like a rainbow vac that you need to add water to use. It is just a tradiional vac that can also **** up liquid without destroying the unit.

Thank you for choosing FixYa.com

Hello again.
When it says wet vacuuming, it means that the vacuum will pick up water, not dispense it. When you are using the vacuum to pick up water, you'll need to remove the paper filter element under the motor, inside the canister, to avoid ruining it. When the filter is removed, you will see a plactic ball inside a cage under the motor. It's purpose is to float up on the surface of the water being vacuumed up, and prevent the motor from getting water into it. You'll be able to tell when the canister is full; the noise the vacuum makes will change and sound higher. Also, the suction at the hose will quit. At that point, shut off the vacuum and drain the water.
Be sure to replace the paper filter when you swap back from liquids to solids.
Best regards, --W/D--

Craftsman wet dry vac no longer sucking enough to use, cleaned the filter, sounds strong but barely works??

Buy a new filter. Make sure hose is cleaned out. Sometimes if the filter is wet and not allowed to dry it will do that. Also make sure hose is on the right outlet

Older model shop.vac parts/owners manuel

Hi, I know on my Craftsman shop vac 2 different sizes of vacs that I use, I try and stick to the craftsman filters, but you can use other brands if they are not available or you want to save some ( $ ) ? As far as a manual for this vac, more then likely you will have to go to the maker and distributor as Sears, O.C.Hardware also sell there products. You may have to go with a manual that is the same peak H.P.and gallons that covers all different makes and models. Filter wise, make sure you have the right ones on or off when using the wet or dry pick-up settings.
Sincerely,
