Question about Olympus Cameras

1 Answer

When I initially bought my olympus digital camera everything ran smoothly with set up. I imported photos and was so pleased to see my holiday photos up on the comp screen. But then something bad happened and I don't really know how to explain it but I decided I wanted to play the scenes movie style I remembered pressing play and the next words on the screen was "do you want to save your data" which took me by surprise as I didn't know why I was being asked this. So I pressed yes naturally and it seemed from that moment things went drastically wrong and I lost all my data. Now I don't know for sure if I pressed something by mistake and if I did I will be so sore with myself. My photos of our holiday are gone which there were about 250 snaps and I am heartbroken. I don't know if there is anyway to retrieve them I only hope there is. I have never lost photos on any camera in the past and was atounded that this camera wasn't more "fool proofed" What happened seemed to be quick and thorough and I never a chance to correct things before I realized. That is my story and I don't if there is anything to try to bring my photos back. The sim card that held my photos now only shows the recent 12 odd photos I have taken over the last few days so it doesn't look at all promising. But I keep thinking they have to be somewhere on my computers hard drive. But then I am not that computer literate but not that illiterate on the other hand. Thanks!!!!

Nothing was wrong with your decision by pressing the YES button when you did.The camera plainly failed for you. That is why I still use film cameras instead. Digital cameras are so useless for they break down so often. If you look on Ebay you will see under cameras in the PARTS section tens of thousands of broken DIGITAL cameras for sale and about 3000 film cameras which are mainly parts for these old relics. Then look at the section for old film cameras such as Leica brand cameras that are 40mto 70m years old. Astoninshing prices are going on the final minutes of each auction. from hundereds to tens of thousands of dollars.Rolleiflex is another film camera which is one of the best made in the 60's which fetch a grand or so. Like I say digital cameras are like a Bic lighter these days

Can't upload video from camera to pc Olympus TOUGH TG-310 Digital Camera

Do you have Windows Live Photo Gallery? It comes with Windows 7, but if not you can download it here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/photo-gallery-get-started
  1. Open Windows Live Photo Gallery
  2. Connect your camera
  3. Click the Import icon in the top left corner.
  4. Select your Olympus and click import. It should import both photos and videos.

You can also try and select the videos you want using the file download module Windows displays when a new device is plugged in. If that doesn't work, try
  1. Start > Computer > Olympus Tough TG-310
  2. Then open the folders until you find the videos you want. Select them and copy them to your desktop (or any other preferred location).
I have had video issues with my Olympus TOUGH (could not delete them from the camera) which turned out to be a formatting problem with the memory card.

We are having difficulty with the p mode on our olympus sp800 uz. Photos are coming out grainy with streaks of light through them. can anyone recommend basic settings?

1. First, do the RESET through the menu (Settings1). See userguide page 42.
It restores several important settings to default, when having trouble.

2. When this does not help enough, you might want to do the factory hard reset.
Pull out the usb cable and battery, and left the camera for a few days.
After that, put in the battery and do the initialization, setting the camera date
and time, time zone and display language etc. See userguide page 11.

I have an Olympus E500 and as I am now on a long vacation I am using it all day every day. Suddenly the other day it stopped taking any photos though it will turn on initially and I can browse photos but...

Hi mkhondza,

there may be a problem with your battery, or your memory card. Try a spare battery and card if you have them. try backing up your photos to disk, and reset the camera. Ensure that the battery is fully charged and the memory card and battery contacts have not become damaged - have they come into contact with moisture?

Hope this helps

You should be able to order what you want from most any photo products supply store. You can also get in contact with Olympus directly, and enquire for a local dealer for what you need. '
