Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Our GE DCLR333ET1ww dryer is making a strange noise when it is spinning. It is also starting to smell like something is burning (rubber possibly?). What could this be? If it is the belt, is this something we can change ourselves? Thank you!

How do you take off the front panel of lat2301aae. I think the belt may be bad.

I would be looking at the drive belt under the machine as that will be the only place to produce a rubber smell. If it is loose and by now destroyed you may have to replace it and adjust the tension.

Won't Spin Drum

The problem could be a list of things . Let's start checking the belt , it coul be that the belt is broken or something is keeping it from doing its job ( a piece of clothing coul be stuck) due to the burned rubber smell you detected. It coul also be the electrical door switch and After checking the three first steps then comes the motor part lets hope is not . Good luck

GE DPXH46GA6CC gas dryer makes large humming noise in heat cycles and burning smell

Two things are likely going on here,1- something is dragging down your motor check for a twist in the belt, idler pulley bad, belt installed wrong or wrong belt. Also check your front drum felt and glides if the felt is bunched up that will drag down the motor. Now the smell you probably have some felt or lint in the burner clean it carefully you do not want to damage your igniter.

Washing machine spins slowly and smells of burning rubber

The belt could be worn and will be slipping on the pullys, as it spins up the rubber , rubs against the pullys and that is what creats the burning rubber smell, the belt needs replacing.

sounds like you need a new belt for your dryer, the smell of burning rubber is the belt slipping, thats my guess

Loud noise and smell

It would help to know the brand and model number of the washer. If it has a belt that also runs the pump, something may have gotten into the pump during drain and locked the pump causing the belt to slip.
