DVD players cannot play Blu-Ray discs. Most Blu-Ray players have DVD support, which means they can play DVDs as well as Blu-Ray. Unfortunately, the DVP3982 is not a DVD player, not a Blu-ray player, therefore it cannot support this format.

I have a Philips DVD Model DVP 3982/37 that is asking for a password, but I never locked the system

Try using the password 136900. If this works, then access the menu, and choose "Unlock".

Hope this helps!

My dvd is 3980/f7 dvd won't open. can't put a dvd in to play

it could be stuck by dirt, try VERY VERY DELICATELY prying it open with a small flat screw driver, if it opens look for any dirt or debrie that could make it stick

My dvd player is asking for a password. I have no idea what the password is. I have a Phillips Mode DVP3982/37.

Try using the code 136900. If this password works, access the general setup menu using your remote, and chose the Disc Unlock option.

I understand this frustration, and truly hope this helps.

Displays no disc

I had the exact same problem. When I finally opened the top there was another disk already in there. I guess if the unit shuts off and you leave aa disk in it will stay in the player even though when you open the door to place another disk in the tray will be empty. All you have to do is unscrew the cover aand then you will see a crossbar held in with two screws where the disks are. unscrew them and take out the two disks thay are stuck togeather. Replace eveything and rescrew and enjoy the movie!! Hope this helps!
