I have a Chicony USB 2.0 webcam installed on my Toshiba Satellite P200 laptop and although it usually will work locally, when I try to use it as a webcam, either Yahoo can't see it or it comes up as a black screen. Sometimes the cam is blocked by another program even though there is nothing else running. I've checked for driver updates but apparently, there is nothing new. I appreciate any suggestions.

I have the same issue as well... First had the problem over the past year when adobe updated their software. Not sure if it's directly related, but I do know that it caused some problems with an adobe/macromedia chat program that I use. Around the same time, yahoo failed to recognize it as well. Seems that NOONE around the net has a solution...please help!!

I have build in camera in Toshiba satelite, from chicony and the version is IIcant turn" on the camera and my PC does not find any video on my PC? Help.

Have you tried checking if the camera driver is working fine?

Here's what you need to do:

Right Click on Computer. Go to Manage. Then, Device Manager.

Look for the camera driver, or look for a driver with an X mark or a question mark.

You can also update the driver. To make sure that all drivers are updated and that you are safe from getting any problem, then install an automatic updater like RadarSync. You don't need to do something because it will update them automatically.

My Chicony USB 2.0 camera on my toshiba vista home premium, intel celeron inside, doesn't work normally. you can use it on Skype hotmail and Facebook but u can take pictures with it normally. Ther

Suggest you go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down through the installed programs to see what the camera app is actually called, then search for that name in the "Search" box that pops up after you click on the Start menu (before you click All Programs).

Or try just typing Chicony in the search box.

Have a Toshiba x200/x205 lap top with build in Chicony USB 2.0 Camera. Downloaded Skype and says its not supported. Webcam say's being used by another program. Help Please Thanks. Luci

Skype is very picky about webcam drivers -you will have to go to the Toshiba support website to download the latest driver.

Webcam software can remained hooked up to a previous program even if you exit that program correctly. Prior to launching Skype re-boot the webcam software by restarting your computer or disabling / enabling your webcam in The Device Manager.
Expand the 'imaging' folder and right click on the text of your webcam to access the menu

Re-install the driver for the webcam.

Follow these steps to re-install the driver for the webcam. You will need to be logged in as an Administrator or have an Administrator password ready.

1. Click the Windows Start button.

2. Click Control Panel, System and Maintenance and then Device Manager.

3. Right-click on Chicony USB 2.0 Camera and select Update Driver Software. A yellow exclamation point indicates that the camera is recognized by Windows but is not working properly, probably because of problem with the device driver

4. Select Browse my computer for the driver software.

5. Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

6. Select USB Video Device from the list, and click Next.

7. If the message “Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device” appears, click Close.

8. Restart Windows.

The webcam should now work properly.

You can check this link

You can update the drivers here

Good Luck.
