Green tint on screen especially with dvds. picture also cuts out for a few minutes every hour or so on our sony kds-50a2020

Usually in this set if screen gradually changes to something other than black and white the optical light engine is the problem---major part.

Google the model number with "problems" or "light engine" to learn more.

Ghosting or double vision on screen...about 5 years old..changed bulb did not change anything

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as

Are the converence ie sodered or pop-in

They are soldered in. Sodlering is not that difficult. Anyone can do it but you must pratice 1st a few times.

projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both.

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Engine light is on. Apparently the problem relates to a sensor on the muffler. I am told there are three sensors on and the one that is causing the problem is the rear sensor or the one furthers away from...

The oxygen sensor can prove to difficult. Your third sensor should be after the catalytic converter depending on make, model and year. You'd need a O2 sensor socket and remove it when the engine is hot to avoid breaking it, stripping it or both.

I have a sony kdfe50a10 that has a great picture in the middle but has a yellow halo all around it. I replaced the bulb about a year ago. Does anyone have the same problem.

It may be the color wheel or the light engine. Do you hear any whiring noise - more than usual from the TV? If so its possible the color wheel bearings are going out.

Loud clicking sound when starting engine: 98 Suburu Outback Legac

The oil pump on your engine (EJ25) has a back plate on it that the screws tend back out and allow oil to flow out the back of the pump insted of through the engine. Most times the plate will back off far enough to loose oil pressure all together causing engine failure. You need to remove the oil pump and replace it or take the old one and tighen the screws using blue Loc-Tite.

Sparkly halo around edges

This is caused by speakers being too close to the TV. Try moving your entertainment speakers away from the TV. If this was the problem, the halo will go away in about a week.
