SOURCE: lawn tractor won't stay running if clutch is released.

There is an operator presence switch under the seat...it is more than likely faulty and must be replaced in order for the mower to run right.

SOURCE: riding mower dies when releasing brake

the seat switch is the problem. the switch itself could be bad, but usually theproblem is that the connector is just not plugged in all the way [by the way, trying to bypass the switch by inserting the wire doesn't work because there is a "switch" inside the connector to prevent you from doing just what you did]

SOURCE: I have a John Deere X300 garden tractor. When

I have a John Deere X300 lawn tractor with an intermittent starting problem. From time to time, when you turn the key all you get is a click. Battery is connected, headlights work, but starter will not turn. Keep turning key off and on and eventually it starts. Other times, it starts just fine. What parts should I start replacing?

I have a Scotts s2554 runs great but when i ingage the blades it shuts the engine off

Grass box is either not fitted correctly or the safety switch on the grass box is not fully depressed or working. This applies the safety brake to the blades, puts weight on the engine which overcomes the engine power and stops it from running. Disengage the blades and the engine picks up again. To test, take the wires off the safety switch and connect together to simulate an activated switch. If it then runs ok, you found the problem.

Scotts L2048 lawn tractor deck wont engage

You need to check the wires from the clutch, with the ignition on pull the pto switch out there should be a 12 volt supply at the wires if not replace the pto switch, if you have 12 volts then it is the clutch itself, they are not realy repairable, so may need a replacment.

HELPING A FRIEND WITH A CRFTSMN 18HP FRNT ENGINE LT2000 LAWN TRACTOR. THE ENGINE RUNS GREAT BUT WHEN HE RELEASES THE CLUTCH/BRAKE TO GO FORWARD OR REVERSE THE ENGINE DIES.

Put trans in neutral if trans is a gear drive and see if mower can be pushed, if it can you can push rule out stuck brake. If you have a hydrostatic trans you can put trans in bypass and push to see if brake is stuck. Remove drive belt at engine or at trans and try the cluch, if motor stays running there is a trans problem.

How to repair clutch pedal safety start switch on Ford Truck F550, 1999

Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) Switch
The clutch pedal position switch (CPP) is controlled by the clutch pedal. Depressing the clutch pedal manually closes the CPP switch and allows engine cranking. The CPP switch will also deactivate the speed control system.

2002 Ford Ranger Clutch Problems

It's not the clutch, it is the clutch slave cylinder. Check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder and you will see that it will be empty. The problem is the trans has to be removed to replace it.
