You need to listen to and write down your beep code, ie;one long, one short, etc., It's more than likely a ram problem. If you have a manual for your system or know what version of bios you have, you can get the meaning of your code.If it's the ramand you have morethan one stick, you can test by taking one out and trying to restart then, try the other.

Hello, I am the technician that will be assisting you today. My name is Norman-Wynne Damstra.

Welcome to Fixya, Roger Gross.

Yes your new AMD Athlon 2 X2 255 processor is made to fit both AM2+ or AM3 sockets.

Since your current socket is 754, you will need a new mainboard and DDR3 RAM to go with your new processor.

ASUS make very good mainboards. The ASUS M4A88TD-M EVO/USB3 mainboard is a good companion for your new processor. Install DDR3 1333MHz CL9 RAM from either Kingston or Corsair. 2X2GB modules should do nicely.

Feel free to contact me should you require additional assistance.

Take care!

Hi i purchased amd athlon x3 450 and only one core is showed in task manager, performance tab

Hi.

If your system is running XP then there is a file from Microsoft that you can download that may fix the problem. Remember once you have installed the fix you have to restart the computer for any changes to take effect.
Click on the link below for the download.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=C2AB5A48-8240-4934-BBD8-34FB8A0FCE3B&displaylang=en

If your sysem is not XP and you are using Vista or Win 7 then don't download this fix as it will not work. Instead right click on Computer and select Properties from the sub menu. When the properties window comes up have a look at the processor under System and see if it shows how many cores the processor is currently showing.

Please let me know how you get on.

Good luck.

You might not have your voltage set properly in your bios and/or your power supply is either insufficient or going bad on you. Have someone test all the leads and be sure the voltage produced is as it should be. Also evaluate your system as a whole and compare the wattage -vs- the power supply you have. (i.e. running a powered vid card.. tv tuner.. two hard drives.. extra ram AND a beefy cpu on a 150watt supply is highly unlikely.)

Hello. I have an embedded Ethernet driver, but it doesn't seem to work. When I plug in the cable, nothing happens. I can't find any software drivers on the internet for AMD Athlon II X3-450 .

If you are running windows vista or 7, go to computer right click go down to manage click on it. Then a screen will pop up. Go to device manager and go down to network adapters. Look for your ethernet controller and right click it and go to properties. Then click on the driver tab at the top. Go to the bottom where it says uninstall driver. Click on that and close everything out and restart your computer. Vista/7 will replace the driver with a default one upon restart. Hope this helps you.

The AMD xp1500 processor is slow. Its need to be faster than it is. Need to know. Cheers!

If your computer has less than 512MB of RAM, then that is one "bottle-neck" that hurts your computer's overall performance.
Consider adding 512MB or 1024MB of RAM.

Or, your motherboard probably will accept other AMD processors in the "Athlon XP" line. Take your computer to a computer-store, and see if they can sell you a '2600+' or '2800+' AMD CPU that will be compatible with your motherboard. That upgrade will make your CPU almost _twice_ its current speed.

Amd athlon xp 2400+ problems witha epox ep-8kra2+ motherboard?

It sounds to me like the processor that you bought is not fully supported in the current bios in your mobo. I would check the epox website for newer bios. Be careful flashing the bios, if you misstep in the flash, you may end up with a brick. If you are successful, you should be able to run the processor at the speeds you expected, though within the limits of the hardware on the mobo. Also look at the spec's for the mobo on the site to see if your processor is listed as being supported.

Processor update..

The problem with Store bought PCs is that there is no way to tell how fast a proccessor you can safely put into one before it becomes overclocking, but in theory your exact motherboard should support an AMD Athlon X2 5800+ 1000 Mhz FSB. Now if your willing to take a risk, you could buy a 6400+ but be warned, the computer may not recognize it, or it may just underclock the proccessor, if the processor supports 800 Mhz FSB. I said the 1000 Mhz FSB because it can underclock to that speed, and also because they no longer offer 800 Mhz flavors at the sites i order from. Hope that helps.
