Don't know if the pilot has been cleaned or the thermopile has been changed. The pilot being lit can be good to keep valve open but not strong if enough to open main burner. If after checking all the above, make sure you have gas flow from the valve, if so replace thermostat.

Any idea why my Atwood water heater will shut the main burner and the pilot light off at the same time? Sometimes runs for 20 minutes, sometimes 2. I hear a clicking sound, then they both shut off.

The thermostat shuts off the main burner. The pilot light gas is controlled by the thermocouple which the side of the pilot flame has to envelop. If the flame is too small or too far away from the flame, it shuts the gas off to the pilot. The thermocouple generates a small voltage which keeps the pilot gas open. It can over time fail itself, so look at replacing it. The thermostat sounds like it's failing too.

I have an imperial fryer. Pilot is on but main burners don't ignite. Pilot looks normal & thermostat clicks when turned

Number 5 is your thermopile/pilot generator. It is a pilot generator that does 2 things. It holds open the valve with a safety magnet and it operates the safety valve solenoid whenever the control stat calls for heat. Overtime they get weak and will hold the pilot but not operate the valve solenoid. I would replace that pilot generator.thermopile and party on!

Pilot light keeps going out

Either the pilot light orfice is dirty, and you will need to pull it out and clean it, or the thermocouple is bad. If the pilot goes out as soon as you let the button go then it is most likely the thermocouple. If the pilot stays lit for a few days or hours then you will need to clean the pilot orfice, heres how:
1 turn off the gas supply
2 unhook the main burner gas line from the thermostat, this is the line that goes to the burner
3 unhook the pilot supply line it is usually next to the main burner line
4 unhook the thermocouple from the thermostat
5 remove the burner assembly
6 take the orfice out of the pilot line and clean it out by blowing thru it, use an air compressor if needed.
7 reassemble and light pilot

Pilot light goes out

The Tstat has a capillary that looks like a thermocouple but it isn't, its a bulb with liquid that expands and contracts based on temperature. A pilot can go out due to a high limit switch being week or getting to hot and that can be shaped like a thermostat capillary or can be simply a disc with a button if even there is a high limit on your stove. There likely isnt. So see the next suggestion.
I suggest lighting the pilot, turning on the main burners while watching the pilot. If the pilot shrinks in size, then check your gas pressures before and after turning it on and seeing if there is a wide variation. I would suggest the pilot is dirty or the pressure regulator is faulty.

Pilot is lit but burners will not light?

There are several things that could cause this problem. The 1st thing to try is to expose the terminals on the thermostat. With a small piece of insulated wire find terminals R and W and touch from red to white and hold there. You may see a small spark but don't let this alarm you.Now have someone go see if the burners start up when it is jumped out.If it comes on, then the thermostat is faulty. If not, i would need to know if this unit has a standing pilot(lit all the time) or an electronic module. If its an older furnace with a standing pilot, see if the pilot flame is a nice blue flame with no yellow tent to it.I have seen many times where bugs, flys, ect, will die in the pilot tube and cause the flame not to get hot enough or surround the flame sensor and this will keep the burners off.If it has a Ignitor module for the pilot, and it clicks and lights the pilot and burners fail to light, the module could be faulty. Also, if the thermostat is good and you have a meter, the main gas valve (MGV) needs to be checked for 24volts at the Hot and common terminals.I am almost positive it is the thermostat, but I would have to be there to trouble shoot it. I hope I havent confused you more.Dont let the voltage at the t-stat scare you.
Good Luck, Sincerely, shastalaker7

Oven pilot light is on, but burners will not light. pilot light burns larger when trying to turn burner on. Do I need a new thermostat?

The thermostat is doing it's job if the pilot gets bigger. When you turn on the thermo, it does 2 things: Makes the pilot bigger and supplies gas to the oven safety valve in the oven. The bigger pilot heats up the bulb from the valve and the stuff inside expands and turns on the main gas. The oven cycles when temo is reached by making the pilot smaller. The most common problem is that the pilot doesn't get big enough to satisfy the valve. Take out the pilot burner ***'y. (7/16" wrench for the nut). Replace the pilot burner. The part is probably a 5414S030 if the valve bulb is located parallel to the ***'y.

Pilot will light but main burner will not light

if burner lights after jumping valve you have something wrong in thermostat loop. disconnect the 2 thermostat wires on gas valve and use multimeter on continuity setting. if all wires ,connectors and components are good, you will get a tone.since you have jumped out each component in thermostat loop with no success ,i would suspect a bad wire or oxidation on a terminal .
