Question about Marantz BD7003 Blu-ray Player

1 Answer

Hi, I am trying to see a new Blu-ray movie on my Maratnz BD7003 player, but the disk will not be read. I am getting disk read errors and no loading of the disk. The store replaced the disk, but suggested an update of the firmware. The new disk has the same problem, I guess an update of the firmware is required. However, any reference to Marantz sites for firmware updates is constantly bouncing. See for instance: http://www.filme-bluray.de/001181-marantz-bd7003-und-bd8002-firmware-update/ Any suggestions where I could find firmware for this player? BR Wim

    Hey Drew,

Great! Thanks! I will start with this.

While having done some work with old(er) BD's I get the impression there is an issue as well with the drive. It looks like I need to clean the drive as well.
Any recommendation which tools work best here?

    BR Wim

    Hi Drew,

    Thanks for sharing!
I had searched for DVD DR or DVD Doctor at first, but that seems to be out already.
However, last Saturday I was able to buy a cleaning DVD, with less brushes compared to your fancy product, and it did the trick!
Thanks again for your support, I really appreciated it!

DVD DR. is rated for both bluray players and dvd players so it is a disk to buy and keep around. It costs nearly $30-$40 but it's worth the recovery of the bluray player.

Hope it goes well for you!

Here is the link to the cleaning disk. The ratings are not the best, however I have had many successes with this disk and highly recommend it.

Error message when my Blue Rays reads dvds

It's a software issue. you need to ring the manufacturer to get files and instructions on how to upgrade your machine so it can play the newer blu ray movies. Quite a common problem.

Vizio vbr133 player . player starts to load disk and then reads no disk. tryed with different disk still reads no disk. error code HON7E

I was getting the same error and I could not get regular dvd or blu ray discs to play either. I dug out my old cd player lens cleaner and put it in and it started playing. I let it clean the lens for a couple minutes and now it is playing my movies again.

Loaded new blu ray disk today and the player will not recognize Display says "can not operte this disk" tried two new and the same response....no problemes before

try updating the firmware of the bluray. This is one downfall of blueray is that for newer bluray movies it requires new frimware to process the video :)

Region code unlock

Turn on without disk and wait for "No Disk" on front panel display. On front panel, press and keep pressed Pause, while you enter 3,1,4,1,5,9 on remote. Release Pause immediately after the "9".
The word COdE is displayed on panel. Press number of region, or 0 for all regions. Then press Pause on panel again.

I am trying to play Date Night in my blu ray. I can play any other blue ray I got besides this one. All I get is the update your bluray screen then it goes blank! It doesn't try to read the bluray it just...

Remove the disk. Go into the player's setup menu. Disable BD-Live. You may also need to clear the player's memory (maybe called cache, but depends on your manufacturer and model).
Now insert the disk and it should load right away and play normally. This is happening because new disks are trying to use the internet to connect to a server to download new features for the disk (that's BD-Live). This would be cool, except that in some cases it causes this freezing problem where you can't even watch your movie.
Firmware updates don't seem to fix it--at least not yet. So far this seems to be a combination of a coding issue on the disks and perhaps firmware that doesn't know how to deal with the new code. Please post a reply if it works for you.

Blu-ray disc not playing movies

Try resetting the machine. Take the movie out, close the tray, press and hold both the stop and power buttons simultaneously until the machine shuts down completely... then turn it on. It will ask you for the first time settings again... beware that mine stated like that and the freezing movies until "No Disk" came up and now nothing will be read. I an taking it to Sears for an exchange (hopefully). I am disappointed with the performance so far. It's a SONY ****!
