Because I use iphone 4 it has min sim card. I cannot try in another phone.

  • searea88 Apr 02, 2011

In addition it seems that I loose the network. I will get a very weak signal to 5 bars. I cannot get access to internet unless I am on Wifi.

I tryed your solutions and it did not work.I spent a lot of time with Etislate support and they told me there was nothing wrong from their side. The only thing left to do was to restore on my phone. After doing so the problem was fixed. It is now working normal.

Hi, issues like this are related to your Sim card (network),
not your Cell Phone . In most cases, regarding the text messages,
the problem is from the Service Operator. Have you tried the Sim card on another phone? If not,
remove the Sim card, insert it on another phone and try sending a message from another mobile to you number,
or you can do it in vice- versa by inserting another Sim card on your mobile.

If you can't receive text messages even when it's inserted on another handset,
then you will need to call the customer care of your Network Operator and tell
them your problem, they will help you fix it immediately.

You can check the message center number, but I don't think
it's very much important in your case, well, if you wanna try,
just check the text message settings and verify that the message
center number (which is currently in use) is the same number which
is on another phone with the same network (the other Sim should be
of the same network in your area). If it's different, make the changes
and save the settings. Also disable the "Receive Via" or similar settings..
(I can't recollect the exact settings as i don't have the same model with
me, please excuse me for this.).

If the same Sim card doesn't receive text messages using another handset,
don't bother to change the settings or to make any changes with it,
first call the customer care and verify from them, you may make mistakes instead of fixing it.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for using fixya.......

My iphone 3G doesn't get serivce or signal. it just happened unexpectedly and i don't know what's the reason. i tried my SIM card on many other phone and it works. I tried other SIM cards on my phone but...

They are notorious for sim card coming loose. It's mounted in top of phone next to small pinhole. Insert a pin into pinhole & simm card will pop up. Then just push back in & it should reset.

Reset the iPhone:
It has been observed that simply resetting the iPhone can resolve signal strength issues.
Reset network settings:
In some cases resetting the network settings has also helped so tap Settings, tap General, tap Reset, tap Reset Network Settings.
This will restart your iPhone and will also delete any stored Wi-Fi passwords as well as DNS settings and more.

Place your SIM card again:

If your iPhone’s SIM card is not placed properly, it has been observed that it can affect signal strength.
So a good idea would be to remove your iPhone's SIM card by pushing a straightened paper clip into the small hole on the top of the device to open the SIM tray, then check for debris inside the tray or SIM card slot, remove it by blowing into the slot or using compressed air and then placing the SIM card properly and then re-inserting the SIM tray.
The notion is that improper SIM contact can result in a weak signal, so the above procedure could help.
Attaching scotch tape to the SIM card:
This is indeed the most ingenious methods, it appears that attaching a small piece of scotch tape to the outer side of the iPhone’s SIM card (the side of the SIM card that does not have metal contacts) can result in a surprising boost again borrowing from the notion that improper SIM contact can result in a weak signal.

Sim card causes iPhone to overheat and drains the battery.

I've tried to lock the iPhone to my tele provider in stead of letting it search for available networks (the automatic option in settings). Seems to work. But I will also get a new sim card. Strange problem though...

Iphone 3h no service

Go into your setting<General<Reset<Reset Network Settings   This should fix your problem if it does not then maybe your service provider is to blame, if not just faulty iPhone hardware. In that case you can take your phone into a Apple retail store with an appointment and get it swapped for  a new one.  ( as long as you are within your hardware warranty)
