How to reset hp elitebook 8460p bios password?

Generally, there are two ways to reset forgotten HP BIOS password. One is forcing BIOS/CMOS to reset itself to its stored defaults by removing all power to it. The other is to use a program to either locate or identify the password and reveal it to you or erasing the password entirely.
And the most easiest and convenient method for erasing dynamic BIOS/CMOS settings is to remove battery directly from the motherboard. It applies to most motherboards besides HP Elitebook BIOS. At this moment, HP Elitebook based on UEFI Bios provides a tool to reset BIOS password specially - HP SpareKey.
How to reset BIOS password with SpareKey?
1. Before forgot BIOS password, you have set answers to three predetermined personal identification questions.
Write down the answers to these questions and put them in a safe place, away from the computer, so that you can always access them.
2. When you cannot remember the password to access the BIOS on your computer, turn on the computer and immediately press the ESC key to display the Startup Menu. And then press the F7 key.
3. HP SpareKey wizard pops up and prompts you for the answers to the three personal identification questions. If you successfully answer the questions, you are granted access and you can reset the password.
If you do not answer the questions correctly in the three attempts, you will be locked out of your computer. And then you must contact HP for assistance.

Note: HP SpareKey cannot help you recover a Windows 7 or Vista administrator account password. It is intended solely to recover system-level passwords.

There are one or two ways you can go, re-install your operational system that would wipe out your password and personal data, or go to www.ebay.com Type: HDD password, you will be presented with a list of sellers that claim they can reveal your password. Check out www.download.com Type: password, some software maybe free.

Y need bios password for SONY VAIO PCG-983M .Please help.

There is no generic BIOS password. If there is one on your computer then someone set it up. If you cannot find that person or remember what it is then you need to reset the BIOS. To reset the BIOS you need to remove all power from the system. Then you will need to open up the notebook to get access to the motherboard to find the BIOS battery which will look like a large watch battery. Remove that for about 1 minute. Then replace everything and start up again.

Had a problem with Toshiba Satellite A205-S5800. Could not remember password, or the laptop created a new password after 3 tries at trying to remember. Ran recovery disc, and now the HDD password box...

Power the laptop off. Unplug it. Remove the battery. Turn it over. Open the bottom panels. Look for a small battery. Unplug this battery. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. RE-Assemble everything. Turn it back on - hopefully it has cleared the settings and you will be prompted to enter the BIOS.

My laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro A210 is locked with password in BIOS SETUP It does not recognise the original password

Wow, as I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro. I'm sorry, but there is no easy way out of this if you have enabled a bios lock. It is looking for a password that "someone" set up. I say that because there is no bios password when you setup the machine. Also, the bios password is completely different from the user or system password. (Although you could make them the same.)

Please find the person you got the computer from; type in the correct password; and be aware that it is case sensitive. Make sure the caps key is not accidentally down.

Recap:
- there is no original bios password; you would have needed to set it, and remember it. There is no recovery (that I'm aware of) to a mis-placed bios password.

What is the bios password for an acer aspire 5100

It sounds to me like it was set by someone other than yourself. There is no legal way to reset the BIOS password. You can contact the person who set it, call Acer for service, or if you bought this from someone, return it.
If you set it, try to remember what it was.

I have a toshiba satellite. when i turn on the laptop, it is asking me for a password, which i can't remember what it is. what can i do.

The password is set up before it boots up, meaning the password is set in the BIOS, the only way you can undo this password is to bring it to a technician. It gonna need reformating.

Did you put a password on it?
