Question about Norelco Quadra 6826 XL Electric Shaver

1 Answer

Although several years old, my Norelco 6826XL has very little actual use time...probably less than one hour. Recently, it failed to work. Even when the charging cord is plugged in, there is absolutely no response from the motor. Any suggestions?

The batteries have probably gone bad from age. If they have not corroded and caused damage to the internal pats, you should be able to change them to get it going again

You will find the correct battery type for model 7864XL at See link below.

To replace, you will need to remove the back cover by removing the two screws. You may need to extend the long hair trimmer to get to the second screw. Take off back cover to access inside. There are two metal clips that must be unhooked for better access. You can unsolder the batteries from the circuit board but for easier replacement, it is sometimes suggested that you use a modified installation technique. This is to break the tabs off of the old batteries with small needle nose pliers rather than unsoldering them from the circuit board. This allows the old batteries to be removed but leaves the tabs attached to the circuit board. You can then solder the tabs from the new batteries to the old existing tabs
If you are not able to do this yourself, you can have do it for you. See link below

The instructions said it would take several hours. Mine was done in less than an hour. I mwonder if I got the whole update.

Probably. Several hours is probably a worse case scenario. Actual update times depend on speed of computer, internet(?), and what else your computer is doing. Nothing to worry about.

Norelco 835rx unused for 10 yrs, worked 1st time, then not.

The battery pack is, likely bad and will need replaced. Batteries don't hold up well sitting around for 10 years. The stress of charging may have finished off the batteries completely. When the batteries short out internally, the shaver wont run from the cord either. Before ordering batteries you'll want to make sure the old ones have not corroded badly and ruined the circuit board. To check it out, remove the four screws on the back and remove the back cover. Lift out the circuit board and inspect it to make sure there are no burns.

If everything looks to be in good shape, installing a new battery pack will probably be all you need to do. You will fin the correct battery pack at See link below

Rechargeable Shaver will not turn on even when connected to A/C.

Jessy, Your rechargeable battery has finally degraded to the point that it is no longer capable of being recharged. Also, once rechargeable batteries get to a certain point, as yours have, the use of the power cord won't allow the shaver to operate either, since the battery can't pass the electric current through them to the motor, etc.

The good news is that for a few dollars, you can have your electric shaver working like new again. The batteries are replaceable, but you'll have to either disassemble it yourself, or have this done by a qualified service center, as it requires the ability to de-solder and re-solder it onto the motor circuit board.

If you want to have it done (or do it yourself), you can contact or call them at 1-888-476-1785 and request a quote for having the service done by them, or ask them to verify the correct replacement batteries for your Norelco shaver. Typically, the proper battery for the Norelco 7710 shaver is part number 13810584. This is a Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni Mh) Rechargeable 1.2V with solder tabs, AA size.
You'll find that for a very low cost repair, you can extend the working life of your rechargeable shaver by many more years. I've done this many times myself and find I've saved literally hundreds of dollars, especially given the rather high cost of new electric shavers today.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
