If you have Windows operating system

Windows XP
Click on

Start >> Control panel >> Printers and faxes

Under Printers and faxes you will find an icon of your printer Officejet 6200 series

Highlight it - Right Click and you will get an option which says- Set printer online

If windows 7

You need to go to printers and other hardware and then printers and then the process is same

Hello

Thanks for posting.

Did you make sure the printer is online in 'PRINTERS & FAXES' (Only in windows xp)?

Make sure the cable is connected firm and seated well.

Also do check if the printer is in 'OFFLINE' mode under printer menu in the same printer settings.

How do i get my HP Deskjet 4300 back online? It indicates that there is a paper jam and that the power should be shut off. I checked, there's no jam; but it is offline and not working.

Hello Dr Norma,

If you are connected via USB cable, you will want to follow these steps.

1. Clear the print queue from the computer.
2. Shut down the computer.
3. Power off the printer.
4. Unplug the USB cable from both the computer and the printer.
5. Make sure there are no foreign objects in the printer.
6. Reconnect the USB cable.
7. Turn on the printer and the computer.

The "offline" message should now be cleared.

Hp deskjet 6980 will not change to online. Working wirelessly. It says Offline and can't be changed to Online. I have to reinstall everytime.

Right click printer properties and select online. Start /settings /printers. Offline can also indicate a connection is not available - this occurs with demo versions of printer software. When the demo expires, the printer goes offline. The fix is to just use windows networking and shared printer.

Printer status says offline, and we can not print on laptop

Hi!
If you're offline with the printer, you definitely won't be able to print.

I'm assuming you're using Windows XP here. Most Windows products will be similar...

On the laptop, click on the Start button, then Settings, then Printers and Faxes. Find your printer in the list, right-click on it and click "Use Online" or uncheck the "Offline" box.

Good luck! Remember to rate the solutions!

The HP Office Jet Pro 7700 series keeps going offline... the only way to get it off line is to delete the printer and reload it! It's quite a pain. Anyone have a solutioin?

make sure the printer is not connected to a surge protector,it should be connected to direct wall outlet for electricity.
also in the printer and faxes folder under the control panel, do a right click on the printer icon and try making it online .

My printer all in one office jet j5780 its connected to the computer, I have only one pohone line and its connected but I can't print. It reads ph. off hook.

the message "phone off hook" is a normal message if you will used your phone, just ignore that message.

- if you cant print first thing you do is to goto start>control panel>printer and faxes then check the iocn if it is online of offline if it is offline just right click the icon and set printer online and if there is pending documents, right click again the icon and select cancel documents.
- if still the same your printing is not printing then you must uninstall and reinstall the software
