SOURCE: how do adjust the mixture on a mountfield 470

Depends on what engine is fitted - but the chances are no adjustment is possible. The mixture is fixed, and the engine has a governed idle - which means there IS no 'idle speed' in the conventional sense.

If mixture adjustment seems to be required, the carb needs cleaning.

It fails after it has 10 minutes to warm up right?

I think you should run it till it fails and then test it for spark.

My guess is that your coil is going bad and heat just triggers the failure. After a while even cooling down wont help.

The good news. If you need to replace the coil its a pretty simple job that can be done with a few hand tools and a new coil. It shouldnt be too expensive either. 25-35 dollars for a new one if your shop around online or go to Ebay.

The only thing special you need to do once you have removed the recoil cover and removed the old coil is to take a piece of thin cardboard *(I actually recommend the box the coils usually come in. But a playing or business card will do) Put this paper between the coil and the flywheel to set the coil gap. Tighten on the screws and then pull out the paper. Put the recoil cover back on and you are done!

Good luck and be careful.

I have lost my manual. What is the unleaded petrol to oil ratio mix for my Mountfield 22CX Strimmer please.

The fuel mixture ratio for any 2 stroke engine on a trimmer in the last 5 years is 50:1 (air quality standards)
More than 5 years 40:1
10 years old = 32:1

Use this AWESOME link for computing quantities:

My Mountfield Petrol mower cuts out after 5 or ten seconds. The fuel tank is full

Remove fuel car and re-test. If no problem, the vent hole in the cap is blocked. Need more info about engine type to help further.

What fuel do use in the mountfield HP470 petrol lawnmower is it a 2stroke mix?

No. This is a 4 stroke engine and it uses regular gasoline, not a mix.

Hi, first you'll have to change the air filter and the spark plug. now, go buy some hi octane gas. drain the old gas and put the fresh gas in. if this don't solve your problem please write again.
