Welcome to FixYa!

Here's how to remove the wheels of your carriage.

i need to replace all four wheels on carriage - jas247_51.gif

  • Make sure that the brake bar is positioned upwards (in position of brake-release).
  • Lift the frame base to remove one of the rear wheels D.
  • Pull upwards the lever M located on the wheel and pull the wheel out of the pin N.
  • Repeat the procedure also for the other wheels.
To place the wheel back, just reverse the procedure.

You can contact Inglesina for available parts (Wheels).

Trying to adjust blade for first time but the rapidset blade tension lever doesn't seem to do anything.

I just bought the same item from Home Depot, and had the same problem. I called the help number in the manual and was told to return it. I was hesitant to do this because it seemed like a small problem, and I wondered if it wasn't a design issue. I subsequently dove a little deeper and dissassembled the upper wheel suspension to investigate. The hard part was removing the retainer clip on the upper wheel axle. Easy to do, but the inexperienced might be intimidated. Then four screws release the upper wheel carriage, and four more release the bracket holding the "Rapidset tension" mechanism. This mechanism is a spring loaded plunger operated by a cam attached to the hand operated lever. the plunger is supposed to engage a tab on the wheel carriage and force it downwards, but it is of crude design and poor conception. The plunger barely engages the tab and can easily slip behind it, and once this happens it will operate without effect. Also, the plunger is rather loosely held in place and can get cockeyed and jam. I considered various ways to modify or improve the mechanism, but found that by screwing the center dial in the back full clockwise, the upper wheel carriage would be tilted so that the Rapidset plunger would engage more or less reliably. I believe that this action should allow you to use the feature, provide that you manouver the plunger into place one way or another. I believe this can be done with a screwdriver or other probe without any dissassembly if you can locate it visually behind the spokes of the upper wheel.

I have to say, from my inspection of the mechanisms, and from the my first use of the tool, it seems to be a very reasonable design, but the obvious failings of this one little gizmo, which is touted as the trademarked "Rapidset" presents a puzzle.

The ribbon cassette is stuck to the far left and the machine is constantly beeping.

Remove the ribbon cassette and verify there is a print wheel in the machine."don't put the ribbon back in yet. Push the carriage part way over to the right, stop, then switch the power on. The carriage should go to the LHS and the print wheel should "home" itself. If the unit is beeping at this stage...check the flex multi stand cable coming from the carriage. On earlier models the wires could sometimes break a couple of inches from the carriage. The carriage and cable will have to be replaced if this is the case.

The carriage keeps going back full force

Check that the carriage release levers have freedom are are not binding. Also the tab key and linkage, next the space bar mechanism. From under machine observe the escapement wheel, rocker and the escapement pawls (fixed dog and loose dog). Lubricate with 10 weight . oil only no WD 40). The loose dog is the part that holds the carriage in position by holding the tooth on the escapement whee wheel assembly. GOOD LUCK
