Question about Canon ImageRUNNER 1670F Copier

Open Question

We have a Canon imagerunner 1670F and cannot get a fax number deleted and a new one entered in the speed dial section--the numbers just add to the existing phone number. How do I delete and reenter?

SOURCE: Waste toner dumping

Hello lb. I promise you I can help you. I could go into overwhelming detail as to the reasons your copier has indicated to you that the waste toner bottle needs attention. I say this because your device can be programmed to either physically "look" at the condition of the waste toner container, or the device can use internal counters that are usual quite accurate. Since these "counters" reflect the wear on the drum (important s*&^%) they can be extremely cost effective as it considers YOUR usage compared to the average joe. My point is, the waste toner area of your machine was never truly meant to be dumped as it is a part of a cartridge. It can be done but odds of total success are not good and we still are looking at significant wear on other major components waiting to give you grief soon. A drum unit for your machine consists of a huge number of critical items and is good for about 20,000 copies. It costs +/- $100. Far less than a service call, and the drum gets replaced, again many other components, and the waste toner. Or you can remove the drum/development unit, find the semi clear plastic plug and remove it,vacuum it out or pour it out. Locate the the photo sensor inside this non-serviceable unit and clean it with canned air as you stand ouside and face away from the wind. Hmmmmmmmmm. I am not being a smartass, just trying to minimize your out of pocket costs and frustration. Good luck and take care. ........................SPINAL

SOURCE: How to Add Speed Dial Numbers -- Can't find menu

The easiest way is to use the intranet interface. Enter the IP address of the fax machine into your web browser on your computer (on the same network) and you will get the interface. Select the administrator role (hopefully the password will still be blank), and then go to the address section. You can enter speed dial numbers there.

How do I set up speed dialing on my HP Officejet 5740

While "Speed Dialing" or "Speed Dial" is listed in its fax specifications on some sites, it appears to be a mislabeled categorization of its group fax feature as HP's manual makes no other mention of it--save to say, the "fax to multiple numbers" (or multiple recipients) feature. There does not appear to be a speed dial list, but there is a phone book feature for adding contacts (individual numbers) & groups. (The following is detailed in a more explanatory way on pages 65-66 of the user's manual (http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Officejet-5740-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/6617253/model/6617254/manuals?cc=us&lang=en).

1. From the printer control display, touch Fax.
2. Touch Send Now.
3. Touch the telephone symbol to access its phone book feature.
4. Touch the person symbol for a phone book contact; or touch the multiple person symbol for a group of phone book contacts.
(Note: Contacts should be established before any of these could be added to any group.)
5. Touch + (plus sign) to add a contact/group; or touch the gear symbol (edit) to edit/delete a contact/group.
6. Touch Name.
7. Changes to contacts/groups:
•Adding a contact/group: type the name, & then touch Done.
••Adding a fax number to a contact: Touch Fax Number, enter this contact's fax number, & touch "Create".
••Adding a contact to a group: Touch Number of Members, select all of the contacts to add to this group from this printer's phone book, & touch Select followed by touching "Create".

•Editing: Select the contact/group name, & then touch Done. Then...
••Editing a Contact: touch Fax Number, enter the fax number, & touch Done.
••Editing a Group: touch Number of Members & deselect the contacts to remove from this group or touch + (plus sign) to add contacts to this group. Then touch Done.

•Deleting a contact/group: Select the name, & then touch Delete followed by touching Yes.

Need help adding numbers to speed dials canon imagerunner 1370f

One of the easiest ways to explore this is with the RemoteUI, the web management interface accessable by entering your imageRUNNER's IP address into your web browser's address bar.

I don't have one handy so I cannot be certain, but you will want to look for the Address book. It should be clearly listed on the left hand navigation.

If you are prompted for a password enter your system manager password (used with Job Accounting, usually)
Unless you have a system manager password set, you can login via admin mode with a blank password.

Group code

I believe what you want is at the bottom of this list.

If you frequently send faxes to the same group of telephone numbers, you can assign these numbers to a group.
Only Speed Dial and One Touch numbers can be assigned to a group. A maximum of 25 Group Numbers (WorkCentre Pro555) / 50 Group Numbers (WorkCentre Pro575) can be assigned (in the range 1-1999). Preset group numbers can also be used for polling.
The following information is included below:
  • Create a new group
  • Add numbers to an existing group
  • Delete numbers from an existing group
  • Delete an existing group
To print the Group Phonebook, see the Related Items below for additional information.
Create a new Group:
  1. From the Standby Mode, press the [Menu] (up arrow) button on the Control Panel, then press [3], [3].
  2. Use the numeric keypad to enter the Group Dial number (1-1999) you want to assign to this group.
  3. Press the [Enter] button. The screen will display a name.
  4. Use the numeric keypad to enter the Group Name (20 characters maximum), then press [Enter].
  5. Press the One Touch button you want to include in this Group, or enter the Speed Dial number, then press [Enter].

NOTE: The One Touch and Speed Dial numbers must already be programmed. See the Related Items below.

  6. Repeat step 5 to enter additional numbers.
  7. When you have entered each number you want to include in this group, press [Enter].

NOTE: Group Transmissions are easier if a group is linked to a One Touch button.

  8. To assign this group to a One Touch button, press the One Touch button. To skip this step, press [Enter].
  9. Press the [Exit] or [Stop] button to return to the Standby Mode.
To add numbers to an existing Group:
  1. From the Standby Mode, press the [Menu] (up arrow) button on the Control Panel, then press [3], [3].
  2. Use the numeric keypad to enter the Group Dial number (1-1999) you want to assign to this group.
  3. Press the [Enter] button.
  4. Press [2] to modify this group.
  5. Use the numeric keypad to enter a new group name, then press [Enter], or press [Enter] to retain the old name.
  6. Press the One Touch button you want to include in this Group, or enter the Speed Dial number, and then press [Enter].

NOTE: The One Touch and Speed Dial numbers must already be programmed. See the Related Items below.

  7. Repeat step 6 to enter additional numbers.
  8. When you have entered each number you want to include in this group, press [Enter].
  9. Press the [Enter] button.
  10. Press the [Exit] or [Stop] button to return to the Standby Mode.

  3. Press the [Enter] button.
  4. Press [2] to modify this group.
  5. Use the numeric keypad to enter a new group name, then press [Enter], or press [Enter] to retain the old name.
  6. Press the One Touch button you want to delete from this Group, or enter the Speed Dial number, and then press [Enter].
  7. Press [1] to delete this number.
  8. Press [Enter] to delete the number, or press the [Exit] or [Stop] button to exit without deleting number.
  9. Repeat steps 5 through 7 to delete additional numbers.
  10. When you have deleted each number from this group, press [Enter].
  11. Press [Enter].
