Question about The PHP Group PHP
Can't get PHP to run with Apache, what could be the problem?
You could add php module to apache. you should check the httpd.conf that you have the line for php. Depending on your distribution, you might have apache compiled with php. You can check with apache2mod -M and see the output if you have it. you can check Octopus Computer Solutions blog sections they might have more information for you.

Php was not added to the httpd.conf
or apache wasn't restarted after they were added. You may just want to verify the following lines exsist:
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .php4 .php3
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps

If you want PHP to use quotation marks you have to seperate them from the ones that start the expression by a backslash(\).
Here are two examples:
WRONG: echo "A "QUOTE" AND SOME TEXT";
RIGHT: echo "A \"QUOTE\" AND SOME TEXT";
WRONG: echo 'A 'QUOTE' AND SOME TEXT';
RIGHT: echo 'A \'QUOTE\' AND SOME TEXT';
I hope this helps.
