If this unit is more than several years old it probably will not run Vista very well. If you are doing this on a budget go online with another computer and do a Google search for Linux. There are many free versions of the Linux OS. Ubuntu is supposed to be a good one. Find one you like and burn it to a CD then install it on your PC. If ya got to have Windows expect to pay $$$$$!

Your first step will be to get an OS on the pc, That may require taking it a pc tech. though most OSs like Windows will be able to install on a blank hard drive. If the OS can recognize that the pc has a hard drive. If not most pcs will let you install from DOS such as DOS 6.22 most people do not have DOS any thing any more. That is why you may need a tech to install your OS. Once that is done. Then you can go to a Local Dept. Store posibly, If you have a Wal-Mart near you I know they carry wireless equipment that can be set up on his father's pc and his which will allow him to go to the internet. It will require a base and a receaving unit. That will cost some place close to $70.00 to $100.00 I hope that offers you some kind of help Thank You

I need to know how to restore a emachine desk top to factory settings without a disk

Without a disk you can either pick up some kind of cleaner for your computer and use that while also removing whatever programs you have installed that are not necessary. Or you could format the hard drive and reinstall your operating system if you have a different operating system to install.

How can i get my emachine desktop to go wireless?

First you need a wireless router. If your router downstairs is wireless then the easiest thing to do is buy a USB wireless adapter for your desktop. All you need to install that USB wireless adapter is to plug it into one of your USB ports and install the driver for it. Depending on your operating system and model of your USB adapter, the operating system may even automatically install the driver for you.

Emachines t1116

Usually e-machine and other pc's have a factory restore setting set up in case of an error. You can; according to emachine tap the "Alt" and "F10" keys at the same time when the eMachines logo appears. Press "Enter" and follow the directions on the screen to recover the operating system back to factory condition. I hope that helps, if those keys don't work try F11 at the emachine logo. Good luck.

Emachine T1100 Operating System

Sounds to me like windows is corrupted. If you have the Windows operating system cd then go into the BIOS and set the first boot device to be the cd-rom. After you do that then put the cd in the cd-rom and then reboot the machine and it should tell you to press any key to boot the cd and it will go into the installation for you and you just follow the prompts from that point.

Emachine T1100 Emachine window then no system window

It sounds like the hard drive has been wiped or is dead or not connected. Check the power and control cables to the hard drive. Check drive with a maintenance diskette or CD. Replace drive if bad. If wiped or replaced, you need to re-install an operating system, such as MS Windows-XP, or Ubuntu (a free, downloadable, Debian GNU/Linux based operating system with a Windows-like user interface).

Cd need installed

Access Control Panel; goto system information and check to see if a driver is installed for your cd rom. If not, try installing using the "add hardware" feature of Control Panel. Also make sure the cd rom drive has the power and IDE cable properly installed.

Go inside to your BIOS menu then set the BOOT sequence to CD as the first boot so when your PC with the operating system installation disk inside it will load the installation wizard.
Good luck hope that helps........
