Load specialty paper Follow these steps to load specialty paper such as card stock, envelopes, photo paper, or labels.
Before you proceed, verify that your printer supports the specialty paper on which you are attempting to print by viewing the product specifications . If the size, type, or weight of the paper is not available, the printer does not support printing it. Also note the tray loading capacity for the type of paper on which you are attempting to print.

We loaded new pack of paper now printer tells me to load tray 1 as if it does not know that tray 2 is in place and loaded with paper.

This is due to paper handling either the guides in the tray are off (Example: Adjusting the tray from Letter to Legal) Or the paper handling settings in the machine are miss-configured. I don't know that machine type so I can't inform you correctly how to change but on most HP printers go into the menu from the control panel and arrow down to paper handling go to tray 2 size and type and make sure they are set to the same paper size and type as you have loaded into the machine.

When i replace with new original 818 color and black/white ink cartaiges the ink status show as b/w full and color iswith"x" mark(no ink) and printer can"t take paper i also re load the driver software

If there is an "X" on the color cartridge indicator then there is a problem with it. If you have removed the plastic tape that covers the part that connects to the computer and you still have this problem then the cartridge is defective and needs to be returned to the store and exchanged for another that is good. Exchange the cartridge and install the replacement. This should solve the problem with the printer not recognizing a full color ink cartridge.

You mentioned that the printer cannot take paper. Please clarify what happens when you load the paper tray and try to print? Are you loading paper one page at a time using the external feeder or are you loading the paper tray full with paper before trying to print? If your loading page by page or filling the tray with only a few sheets of paper then try loading a bigger amount of approx 1/2" of paper. It is easier for the printer to grab paper when the try has a good amount in it. If it still will not load the paper when the tray is full and inserted correctly, please advise what happens when you try and print - exactly? Does the printer respond to the print command sent from the computer? Does it make attempts to load the paper and then fail and stop? Does it pick up paper and then show a paper jam? Does the printer do anything when trying to print from your computer? Answer these questions and I will help you solve this problem right now.

Loading your paper
Paper loading tips:
● Load paper with the side to be printed facing down.
● You can print photos and documents on a wide variety of paper sizes, from
8 x 13 cm (3 x 5 inch) up to 22 x 61 cm (8.5 x 24 inch). The 10 x 15 cm
(4 x 6 inch) photo paper is available with and without tabs.
● Before loading paper, pull the Main paper tray out (use the Main tray release or
the tray grips) and slide out the paper-width and paper-length guides to make
room for the paper. After loading paper, adjust the guides to fit close to the edges
of the paper without bending the paper. When finished loading paper, push the
Main tray back in all the way.
● Load only one type and size of paper at a time in the same tray.
● After loading paper, extend the Output tray extension to catch your printed pages.
Use the directions in the following table to load the most commonly used paper sizes

My printer, HP injet 1410, could not pick up the paper. Can you tell me what the problem is.

I assume the printer is making noises and moving, TRYING to pick up the paper...
If so, there are 3 possible issues:

1) you have too liittle paper in the paper tray. Add more paper so that the tray is full to around 3/4, not less.

2) You may have too much paper on the tray. Remove some paper from the tray untill the tray is around 3/4 full, not more

3) The rubber rolls that pick up the paper may be dirty with paper dust or dirt. Put 2 drops of alcohol on q-tip and carefully clean them. Let dry 30 mins. before trying to use the printer.

My HP laserjet p3005dn has tray 2 filled with paper but troubleshooting says to load paper. I've checked the configuration settings and they are set to automatic so I can't figure out the problem.

Hi, You need to go into menu and check you tray and paper configuration, for instance if you have letter paper in tray 1, go into menu and scroll to paper tray 1 and make sure it says letter paper 81/2 x11, then do the same for tray 2. Even though the machine has the required size paper and set to auto, you have to go into menu and tell the machine what kind of papers are in the trays, the machine don`t do this automaticaly. Getting a Service Manual will help you further, you can get one here www.techmanualarchives.com

When you try to print from a networked computer the display goes from saying ready to print to load Tray 1 A4. The tray is full of paper

When you loaded the paper in the tray, did you tell it that the paper was A4 - it may be that on the printer or in the queue definition on the computer that the paper size for that tray is set to something else (eg letter) and the print you are sending is A4 so it is looking for paper but only thinks it has other sizes available.

Printer will not kick out document automatically, attention lite keeps flashing. tray 2 selected but always defaults back to tray 1

Sounds like you have a mismatch in the paper you are trying to print on and the paper that is loaded in the printer. HP printers look to feed paper from tray 1 anytime the computer settings don't match the paper loaded in tray 2. Tray 1 is the multi purpose tray and prety much any size paper can be loaded in tray 1. Double check your document settings and double check the paper size loaded in the paper tray 2 and make sure they match. Also try printing a different document to see if the error persists. If it does this on everything you try to print you should also double check teh rear guide in the paper tray. There is a rear guide in paper tray 2. If it slides back too far it will make the printer think that paper longer than 8 1/2 x 11 is loaded. Push the paper all the way forward in the tray and push the rear guide until it is snug with the tail end of the paper stack.

HP LaserJet 2430dtn - "Tray 2 open or empty"

1-Is the paper set correctly in the tray? if you have Letter paper in it make sure the guides are snug against it

2-Check the lever inside the tray, remove the tray and look at the tires there should be a lever that you ca move freely that is the paper sensor
