Question about General Electric DHDSR46EGWW Dryer

1 Answer

My GE electric dreyer, DHDSR46EGWW, is making squeaking noise and a grinding noise. My husband took is apart last night and put back together. When he started it the noises came back and he said it sounds the like the belt is slipping. The dryer is still heating and the drum is spinning. The grinding noise got worse last night.

It could be the rear bearing or if not it have your honey take it apart again and inspect the rear rollers, if they turn freely then inspect the front bearing assy it is on the the door and if it looks worn down then it is allowing excessive pressure on the rest of the unit .

I learned that the drum bearing, which is at the front inside of the dryer, can wear out, causing that awful squeak. The part you may need is the upper drum bearing and the bearing guides. The bearing guides are actually what wear out first. The part numbers are WE3M26, WE1M333

Squeaky GE Dryer

Greetings,
sight unseen, its hard to say exactly, but it is a place to start by looking at the belt pulley. these will make squeaking sound when bad or going bad..The drum rollers usually make a thumping sound, however, they can squeak too before failing..I would try and add a few drops of turbine oil to see if either get quiet..if so, replace when find which one is causing noise..Bruce

PS
its possible, the motor itself could cause this, but slim

Noisy dryer......when engaged...making squeaking/squealing noise.

If the noise is like a shaking of rattling , like coins being shaked , then it is an object trapped inside the drum.

If instead the noise is a loud grinding , that may get louder on high speed, then it is usually a bad drum bearing.

If dryer is not cooling, check that the noise is not coming from the ventilation fan.

Rollers and belt tensioner can also make noise.

Dishwasher makes a loud grinding noise when running.

Start by pulling out the lower rack. Then pull the nut off the top of the lower spray arm. then remove all of the visible hex head screws. lift up on this section. this should expose another level of hex head screws, then they should be removed and this section should be lifted up. once you reach the chopper blade, remove the obstruction, and put back together.

Loud Grinding noise in Dryer

I know this prob is old, but I had the very same prob with my dryer (very loud squeaking noise). The prob was that there was a screw stuck between the rotating part and the stationary part. Meaning - look inside the dryer (main area - where the clothes go) and rotate it by hand. You may hear and see something causing the friction. Gerard
