You probably didn't install the drivers for your sound card. On newer computers the sound card is part of the motherboard and is an 'AC97'. You will need the driver for it, which will have come with the computer or you can download it online. Go to Control Panel and click on the System applet, and then on the Hardware tab. You will see your sound card marked with a yellow triangle. Right click on it and click upgrade driver, then navigate to the place where you saved the AC97 sound driver .inf file.

Another possibility is the the drivers have been installed and the Sound Mixer part of it is set to Mute, or the mixers are set to zero. Go to Control Panel and click on the Sounds and Audio Devices applet.

Songs aren't on my MP3 but computer says they are.

It sounds like there might be a corruption on your device operating system..Try formatting the device and then transfer the songs over again..
That should solve the problem

My sansa shaker wont play songs it does the start up noise then shuts off i have tried replacing batteries and converting the songs from wma to mp3 and still nothing!!!! :-(

Make sure the songs are in the right file format first. I would only download songs that are in mp3 format for starters - sounds like you did this already. If it is still not playing, follow the reset method that the manual suggests. If it is still not working, it may be defective. These "windowless" players are the most difficult to use, because there is no on-screen display to let you know what's going on.

San Disk Sansa c150 Trying to erase all songs

To delete songs from your device follow the steps below
You have to make sure that the device is on MSC mode...then make sure your device is plug in to the computer..Then go to programs - accesories - windows explorer, find the SanDisk in my computer, go to media, music and delete them from there.
Either under sync panel in your windows media player it will show your music when it's connected. just click the plus signs for what song you need to get rid of, right click and click delete.
To format it..on your device..go, setting and there should be a format option option there..let me know if that doenst work for you...
Hope this helps

P.S.Please rate accordingly...
Thank You

I have put songs on the player and they show up in the file, but nothing will play

The songs are in the wrong format. If the songs are WMA, then they have DRM encryption which will not allow you to transfer them to an mp3 player without paying a premium subscription fee (the regular sub fee won't allow you to transfer to an mp3 player). Or, the songs could be from iTunes (AAC format), which also won't work with most players.

Convert the songs to Mp3 format, and you will never have this problem again.

I have a mp3 player GoGear 4 GB and the sound does not work. I am constantly reseting to turn on. I went through firm ware and still nothing happens

Open the Device Manager and run the Repair. No sound is not a typical problem for the GoGear's - I would make sure the songs are in the correct format. If repair fails, and the songs are in the correct format, then you are having a hardware issue - call Philips.
