Some of the dishes are not getting clean, and the detergent packet is not disolving.

Be sure you're not blocking the detergent dispenser with dishes or pots & pans. If blocked, it won't open and the detergent will not dissolve. Put smaller items closer to the dispenser.

Dishwasher Residue and Film on Dishes

<p>If your <b>dishwasher does not seem to be cleaning well</b> anymore and you are getting<b> residue and film left on your dishes</b> then you need to read this.<br /> <p><br /> <br /> <p>Since July of 2010 the US Government has mandated that <b>dishwasher detergents</b> contain no more then 0.05% phosphates in them. The Detergents before this had contained up to 8.7% phosphates. The restrictions were for 16 states but many companies then dropped the phosphates from detergents to all states...<br /> <p><br /> <br /> <p>Now if you are having the <b>scum, film, and white residue problems</b> in your <b>dishwasher, </b>there is hope.<br /> <p><span>There is a product that you can buy that will compensate for what the makers of the </span><b>dishwasher detergents</b><span> have left out. This product as commonly know as </span><b>TSP</b><span> or </span>(<b>Trisodium Phosphate</b>).<br /> <p>By adding this to your dishwasher, you can manually add back the phosphates to your dishwasher and enhance the cleaning process.<br /> <p><br /> <br /> <p>Now the nest question...how much TSP do I add to the dishwasher?<br /> <p><br /> <br /> <p>For many dishwashers, waters, and for normal loads you will find that a tablespoon or two is all that you will need. For very hard to clean dishes and for some types of water you may need to add up to a 1/3 cup of TSP. <br /> <p><br /> <br /> <p>If you are having problems with your <b>dishes not getting clean</b>, a <b>black or scum film</b>, or <b>white residue</b> being left on your dishes at the end of the cycle, then I would start with a tablespoon or two and then adjust from there. Figure out how much you need to add to you dishwasher to make your <b>dishwasher detergent </b>work correctly for you again.<br /> <p><br /> <br /> <p>To best part is that you can have <b>clean dishes </b>coming from your dishwasher again!!<br /> <p><br /> <br />

Detergent is not all disolving and staying on the dishes...the dishes are not getting clean

Check inlet water availability. Check strainer attached to the machine body. Clean the strainer if clogged. Check spary arms for friction free rotation. Finally check the water pump inside machine.

Filter getting pluged up;dishes not coming out clean. bought new filter starting to do the same.

Hi,welcome to FixYa.

Based on two things you mentioned ( replaced filter because the old one was badly plugged & new one starting to have similar issues ) leads me to wonder, does the unit heat the water.

I ask because if it does not, the detergent will never disolve properly, hence clogging up the sump, filters and everything else with un-disolved detergent.

Does the normal wash generally take 2hrs or more to complete ?

This would also explain the dishes not cleaning very well...or at all.

If you can answer any of these questions I`ve brought up and confirm the model number, I can assist you in solving this issue once and for all.

I`ll watch for your reply.

Dishes are not getting clean, detergent just runs down the door used tablets they worked until lately. The door would open but the tablet would not disolve. Now I use liquid but it just runs down the door...

Quickest way to ruin a good dishwasher is to use tablets. They have times when they don't brake down in the water like they were designed. Chance are that you used the tablets with the thin film package, this thin film gets caught in the pump and shut down water circulation. Have a qualified tech pull motor assembly apart for you and clean.

Not disolving detergent, not cleaning dishes even when they are well rinsed

You might have hard water. Use a product called Lemi Shine. It's a dish detergent additive that works wonders. Find it at your local grocery store.

Fisher & Paykel leaves film

When a film is left on the dishes, the problem is almost always a failed heating element. Dishwasher detergent requires a high temp to fully disolve and be effective as a a cleaner (solvent.) When the element does not come on during the wash cycle, the detergent is never activated.

It is ~possible~ that the thermister has failed, but some sort of error code should be reported if that was the cause.

Good Luck! Please report back what you find. OK?

Soap film on dishes

Rodney B if you are sure that the white film is detergent and not hard water deposits, then look at how you are using the detergent. When you watch the TV ads for dw detergents, they are showing baked on/extemely dirty dishes being put in the dishwasher and coming out clean. Well they do this as the dw detergent is designed to break down protein based food products. Fats, oils, and such. If you are prewashing your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher, then there is nothing for the detergent to attack and attach to, so it ends up staying in the dishwasher. If you are going to rinse your dishes, then you need only 1 tablespoon of detergent. Dishwashers are designed to clean using 4 parameters, hot water of 130 degrees, water, detergent,& pressure of the water jets. That is how they clean dishes. Now if this is hard water deposits, switching to an enviromently friendly detergent which is high is Citric Acid (What gives Tang drink its tartness) this will reduce this issue. Hope this helps
