Not asbestos. Throw it out. Not safe to use now because of being dropped. The only danger you exposed yourself to was a broken toe.

The asbestos is to prevent a heat insulation but if only there is any shield failure you need to worry. This could have come from within the chamber and so you can get to buy these to be fitted on to the slot covering the magnetron.
To find if there is leak of any radiation you need to have a tester. but if the covers are intact and the door shuts fine then there is no cause for alarm except that asbestos must not fall into the food.

I have a GE JKP86-27 oven. Neither the bake or broil work. Microwave works fine. Controls come on for oven.

I, too, have the GE -JKP86. Microwave over oven. My oven would not heat up on bake or broil. Elements checked good, no fault codes. This is how I fixed mine: Shut off power at the box. Remove unit from cabinet. I placed mine on a chair. Remove cover(s) until you expose the circuit boards behind the control consol . The top board is behind the microwave controls, the bottom is behind the oven controls. Remove the bottom board by removing 4 screws. I take pictures with my smart phone, even some video. Helps me remember how everything goes back together. BE SURE THE POWER IS OFF, HIGH VOLTAGE IN HERE! One of the screws is hard to see. It is behind the ribbon connector. Unplug everything carefully. You will see a red and an orange wire north and south of a small relay. You must unclip the circuit boards from each other. Look for a missing drop of solder on the back side of the board with the relay. You will find it underneath where the red wire connects. Mine ( looking through a magnifying glass) looked like a crater with a wire sticking up out of it. It had overheated and the solder dripped out. The joint is inadequate. I cleaned and resoldered it with a nice blob. Reassemble and check. I just left mine on the chair. Power on. Select bake, 300, start. You should here the relays click and after about 45 seconds you'll see the bottom element glow. After one minute the relay clicks again ant you'll see the top element glow. They alternate during the preheat cycle. Put it all back together and shove it all back in the hole. Hope this helped!

Power failure control panel beeps no lights on panel and oven wont turn on. have lights on inside of oven. do i need a code, never have before. always showed PF for power failure.

Was the oven doing a self clean when the PF occurred? If so the cavity limit probably tripped.
Sometimes the owner wants to shut down the process of self clean for whatever reason that also trips the cavity limit. If the oven circuit breaker is weak then their could be a power failure during which the oven was on and that could cause the cavity limit to trip. No lights on panel means the temp inside the oven control panel exceeded normal operating temp and the small inline fuse going into the control panel has melted:

This is what that small fuse looks like. To get to the insides
you usually drop the side trim exposing the screws then the controls fold outward.

I need to know about this product, can we put metal material to inside the microwave?

No, please do not put metal inside your microwave. That is a fire hazard. That can also damage the oven and could get someone close hurt.

Can we use non stick pan in a microwave?

Non-stick pan I think may be surely made of metal. Its always
advised not to use metal pans, dishes, spoons etc inside the
microwave oven. Metals are mainly avoided due to the effect
of the microwaves on the metals.

These ovens uses the microwave radiations generated from a
magnetron. The microwave radiations are reflected off by the
metal surfaces. So if you use metal pans inside the oven, they
act as a microwave antenna that reflects back the radiations to
the magnetron and can cause damage to your oven. Another problem
with the metals inside the oven are due to arcing effect.
The atoms in the metal are ionized and the air gap near them lead
to a lightning like discharge of energy causing sparks. This can
easily cause a fire inside the oven since the food materials may be
easily ignitable under that temperature.

Alternatively you could check the manuals of your oven to confirm
the type of dishes that can be used to cook inside. If no
user manuals are available check manufacturer website.

Considering the safety, its a "No" to use metal pans inside the oven.

Thermador smw272y won't heat at all

The switches on the first circcuit card mounted horizontally in the space above the microwave enclosure and behind the control pannel have burned to the point that they no longer engage properly to close the power to the oven heating elements. I do not know anyone who has removed the plastic covers and cleaned them to the point of working again properly and do not recommend trying that approach. The only sure solution is to replace the circuit card that has the three switches.

Replacement for built in oven/microwave

Hello tippett_631

Welcome to fixya,

You said, ,
22 years ago you built the house you are currently living in. The above oven/microwave oven was built in. You are interested in replacing this unit with a new unit but it must be the same size. ? by the way i You would be happy with a double oven versus the microwave/oven duo. You have measured across the front of the unit and it only measures 26" across. Any assistance you could give us would be greatly appreciated.

I can help you!
The front is 26 inches.
And how high is it from the top to bottom?
Also when I sell a wall oven I always send out the installer to check the hole or cutout size.
Most of the time no wall oven fits with out at least one cut!
Do you have any room to cut a little on all sides?
What is your model number now. And what color do you want now??
I will send you some GE wall oven models and sizes so you can check your self if it will fit. usually they have to cut at least one side to fit it in the old hole!

KitchenAid Wall and Microwave Oven Combo - KEMS308SSS

Have had this oven for 8 years. At least three times, usually after using the clean cycle in the main oven, the latch mechanism has broke and the oven door will not open. In March they installed a 'new design' to prevent this. It's seven months later, and it broke again. Has anyone had similar experiences? How did you resolve?

KEMC308 Microwave oven door

Had the same problem and bought the part online. It's not difficult to replace, simply hold the door by the handle as you loosen the 2 screws. Put the face of the door on the floor and remove 2 screws holding the plastic insert. You will have to remove the front vent panel (2 Screws) just below the microwave door. Then you might have to move the oven vent over to get to the final 2 screws on the bottom of the plastic panel. Once you have the palstic panel off the springs are exposed, simply look at how it is placed in the holder before you remove the damaged one. Replace and then re-assemle the door.
