Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

Here is the rest of this tip about Dryer Maintenance

Please check the heaters and the motion of the drum , if there is less exposure of heat there will be low drying.

Hi, it seems the moister sensor is broken on my dryer. When it's set to autodry it just keeps drying for up to 24 hours.

You are correct, there's a problem with the moisture sensor if the dryer is heating but keeps drying when set to Auto-Dry. Either the sensor bars are shorted/touching each other or it is covered with thin film. Disconnect power then check the sensor bars for short circuit and clean thoroughly. Please indicate the exact model number of the dryer should you need further help.

Won't dry clothes thoroughly

It could be or the moister sensor is bad. Do this first for most people never think of doing this. Disconnect the entire venting duct work. Inspect it and clean it. If you get a wad of lint every foot length from this vent this will be your problem in drying clothes. The clogged vent will not let the exhaust pass through and the moister sensor detects that and shuts off the heat automaticly

Doesn't Dry Thoroughly

if you have not already you need to clean out your vent hose. if you have a bunch of lint build up in the hose or in the blower wheel of the dryer it won't move air through the dryer that needed to dry.

My Maytag gas dryer is not heating correctly. It gets warm, but takes several cycles to dry even small loads.

If you have'nt done it yet, my first suggestion would be to have the vent on the dryer (inside the dryer all the way to the fan chamber) and the dryer vent pipe to the outside thoroughly cleaned.
That is leading cause for dryers not drying completely.
Also, has the dryer always been a bit slow to dry cloths? If so, try leaving a window open the next time and see if it makes a difference. Some houses are sealed so tight, the dryer can't get enough air. A typical dryer will use up to 200 cu/ft of air per minute when drying. If there is not sufficient air, the cloths take longer to dry.
Good luck, let me know.
Regards,
