Boot manager missing

Step 1:
Acer Aspire computers come with a built-in hidden partition that allows you to restore your computer to factory settings in case the system becomes corrupted. While it may be more prudent to simply reinstall the operating system, certain drastic situations may call for you to begin from scratch. This can be done easily on most Acer Aspire models.

Backup all of your important data. Restoring your computer will erase all saved information. If you are able to boot into your system, move all of your important files onto an external hard drive or burn it to a disc. Reboot your machine. Press "ALT" + "F10" as the machine boots up. Type in the security code. This is often "000000". Select your operating system and press "Enter." This will begin the recovery process.

I need to restore my acer to factory settings

Hi,

You can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

You can also create a set to Recovery disk from the recovery partition, to do so

Start Menu> All Programs> Acer erecovery management> Click Create Factory Default Disk, if you receive any error code or unable to burn the disk, please contact Acer Technical support at 1 800 816 2237 and order for an Recovery Disk.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

Try running System File Checker. Need to know which Windows version you're running but if you search for system File Checker on Microsoft website it will tell you how to do it.

Acer Recovery management Error code:

I assume you are getting this error when trying to alt+F10 to put the machine to factory original.
If you can boot into windows, try to use the acer e-recovery software to create some restore media, although it sounds like the image stored in the restore partition may be damaged. If making the discs doesn't fix it, call Acer and get some restore media sent to you (free if you're in warranty) or about $50 if out of warranty. You can also reinstall windows with an OEM cd/dvd using the keycode on the bottom of the laptop, but you will have to download drivers manually and will lose some software provided by acer. Acer restore discs are the best/easiest option though. Well worth the cost of discs if you can afford it. Let me know if this helps or not. I am an Acer authorized technician.

Acer e Recovery Error code: 0xC0000003Open image failed. Found

The image stored on your laptop to restore it to factory original is corrupted. If the laptop still boots, try to make restore media using the acer erecovery management console, although this will likely not work if the image is corrupt. Try installing windows with these discs if you can. If not you have 2 options:
  1. Contact acer and order restore discs (free if in warranty) or about $50 out of warranty.
  2. Reinstall windows using an OEM Windows cd and the keycode on the windows sticker on the bottom of the laptop. You will have to download all hardware drivers manually though, and you will not have any of the softawre provided by acer. The restore discs from acer are by far the best option....Let me know if this helps.

My acer aspire 5100 keeps coming up with an error code when switched on, and does not allow me to even restore to another date when computer was ok. the code is ERROR LOADING C: WINDOWS\SYSTEM 32...

do you have the restore cd? Using a restore cd would remove your files but it would fix the problem.

if you can get your hands on a windows installation disk, for the version you are using. You could perform a repair installation, it would also fix the problem and you would get to keep the files.

a pc tech might be able to fix the problem without reinstalling windows but that would require you to take the laptop to someone.

I know I could but I'm not in the UK.
