I have the 2 prone type so I am going to try and replace the cord if it is not too expensive.

Hello,

of course yes, the cord can be replaced.

Remove the overheated cord, take it to any electrical part stores in your area and have it replaced. This time make sure you buy a ticker wire with a 15amp socket/plug.

You can also order for it online from best-buy, Walmart, etc...

I hope you understand the above.

Good luck.

These units are not designed to replace the cords. they have to be opened and a new cord soldered in. On my unit the power cord is permanent. I am not saying this is impossible, but it is not recommended. Nesco does not offer replacement cords. I notice the cord on my Nesco gets warm also but I never noticed it getting too hot for safety reasons. Your roster may be pulling too many amps for some reason, like the heating element is getting weak. These are cheap enough now days to just get a new one if your worried about the one you have. When I bought mine the price was about $100.00 now you can get them for $30.00-40.00 on sale. If by chance you have a model that has the 2 prongs sticking out of the oven, then a replacement cord can be obtained at most hardware stores, but I would take the roaster with me to make sure it fit.
If this is helpful in any way, a vote with the thumbs up for the free advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for using fix ya

I have good luck looking in the yellow pages for "Appliances-Supplies & Parts" for a parts store. If you have one close, take the roaster with you to see if they can match the cord end

Do you put water in the base of a nesco roaster?

No, you specifically DO NOT put water in the base between the roaster and the cook pan, this actually interferes with cooking.
