My suggestion is when was the last time you took the side cover off your computer to check the fan on your video card. It sounds like the card is heating up and causing the computer to shut down. You can try blowing out the fan with air to make sure it doesnt have some larges peices of dust/dirt or that the fan isnt worn out. If the computer keeps running with the side cover off that would confirm an over heating problem with the computer. While you have the side cover off blow out the whole machine especially the power supply. Computers are dust magnets. While your using the computer if you have a video game that is graphics intensive run it and keep your eye on the fan of your video card to see if it stops turning at any point.I would also look really hard at the fan or fans on your computers processor to see if it is spinning freely. When your blowing out your computer with air blow air on the fans of your processor to make sure it has no dirt in it and it is spinning freely. If after 30 minutes your computer continues to run with the side cover off then either its time for a new video card or a new fan on your processor. Because one or the other is worn out.

I hope this helps you out.

OK I know what your problem is you have the refresh rate set to high on your video card. You sound like you know something about computers so I would suggest you lower your refresh rate your monitor can not handle what your giving to it that is why your monitor is doing what its doing. Go into control panel then you should have a icon for Nvidia display settings if not then look for your video card lower your settings down and you should be ok.

You don't say what games you are playing. Check that the hardware you have is good enough to play the games. It will be written on the side of the box.

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps

The one long-two short beep code is for bad memory, not for a failed video card.
Shut down your computer, remove one stick of ram, reboot the computer, and repeat for each stick of ram, until you find the bad stick.

I recommend you to buy ATI 4670 instead since it is much more powerful than you listed above & now the price should be around $64+
It is much better for GTA IV than those you listed.

COMPUTER GOES SHUTDOWN WHEN PLAYING HIGH-END GAMES

If your mobo wasn't compatible with your video card, you wouldn't get a screen at all.
Yes upgrade your directx to 10
and yes upgrade your power supply to a 650Watt or greater.
The problem is most likely that you have a low wattage PSU and
when your vcard request more power to run higher graphic games than the
Windows Interface, your computer shuts down because it doesn't have enough power to give.
