Hello,
The error code of 6500 is a PCI bus error and this is a Service Error Code.
Typically this is an internal error of one of the ASIC chips on the logic board and
can only be repaired by replacing the logic board.

I would do all of the following and see if yo can clear this code. It is not on any Canon list of possible codes, so I have no idea what it means., but let's do this:
Turn off the printer and unplug it.
Remove the print cartridges. Look at them, are they leak free? Look into the cartridge holders. Are they clean?. Dried ink or blobs should be cleaned off with a little alcohol and a qtip.
Are the little wire holders bent or broken? Do they look exactly the same?
Turn the printer back on reinstall the cartridges.Check in your printer preferences/services and clean your cartridges.
Now turn it off again and unplug it. Open the paper jam door and gently push the paper roller forward until it clicks. At the same time, look for even the tiniest scrap of anything in there.
Close the paper jam door and plug your printer back in. Restart your computer.
If the problem is not solved. You may need to reinstall the printer. Do You have your original disc? Be sure to do a clean install. ( Turn off all running programs in the lower right corner including your virus control. Also go to Toolbar>tools>internet options>general>and delete all you cookies and temporary internet files.) Turn off and unplug your printer.
Reinstall the software. When it is finished if it has not told you to plug your print back in do so now. Restart your computer and turn your printer on.
I hope this helps. Good luck to you.

It may be the cartridge...try removing it and then reseating it. If that
doesn't do it, clean the contacts with water or isopropyl
alcohol.(power off when you do this)
