Capacitors on motherboards and other electronic circuits sometimes leak and buldge and fail to perform their function. Faulty capacitors fail to hold the charge properply, heatup and do not supply proper power to other components on board/ circuit. I have come accross such cases with motherboards and after replacing the capacitors the they worked fine.
So, I recommend that you inspect the board properly, point out the faulty capacitors, find the exact replacement (FZ7A1000 mfd 16V), make sure that all the capacitors are the same and replace them one by one. Take proper caution while replacing the capacitors.
I hope that it would helps resolving the issue.

Good Luck!

Two things, First you need to replace all of the capacitors on the power supply board at the same time even if they do not show signs of failure because they have been under stress. Secondly, you need to use the correct ratings on the capacitors not just the mfd and voltage. Parts from Radio Shack and such will not work right and can cause additional damage to the power supply board. Here is a link to an article about getting the correct capacitors for LCD monitor repairs.

I hope this helps,

What start capacitor is used on the Trane XE1100 air conditioner

There is NO START capacitor on your unit. There is a RUN capacitor and one place said it is a 30 mfd / 5 mfd at 440 volt. These are an oil filled capacitor with both a 5 mfd section for the fan and a 30 mfd forthe compressor. Find a part number on it and search Ebay... that is where I got mine..

Check capacitor on goodman air

Inside the electrical panel, silver or gray capacitor. It will have the numbers printed on it, like 35/5 or 45/5. Usually, you can visually see if the capacitor is swollen or blown. To actually check the capacitor the correct way, you need a meter that measures mfd's (micro-farads). You shut power of to unit, take wire connections off of capacitor, remembering where they go, and check for correct mfd's by putting one lead on HERM (compressor), and one lead on COM (common). To check the fan, one lead on FAN (condenser fan motor), and the other lead to COM. Your numbers need to be within 10% of the number listed on the cap. For instance, on a 50/5 capacitor, you can be 45/5 to 50/5, anything lower will not work.

Hope this helps you out and gets you to cooler days!

Turn power off.
Pull the leads off the capacitor.
Read off the capacitor the microfarad rating. (example 5 mfd or 5/30 mfd)
If the capacitor is oval it will have two sets of lead connections.
If the capacitor is round it could have three sets of lead connections.
On the oval capacitor, with a multimeter set on mfd, place one meter lead on one set of lead connections on the capacitor and the other lead on the other set of lead connections on the capacitor. Make sure you have a good connection. Read the mfd reading on the meter. It should be within 5-6% of the stated mfd of the capacitor.
On the capacitor with three sets of leads you will need to look at the top of the capacitor by the lead connections and find which lead is "c", which is "HERM", and which is "fan". Place your multimeter lead on "c"(common) and "herm" lead and take the reading, then take your leads and place on "C" and "fan" and take the reading. Compare these readings with the rated mfd stated on the side of the capacitor.

I have a 25 year old Ruud A/C. The outdoor fan isn't turning and I can hear the condensor humming. There are 2 capacitors in the the electronics box that the schematic says are running capacitors. ...

The 3 microferad capacitor goes to the fan motor. The bigger one goes to the compressor. If the capacitor is swollen or pregnant looking it is shorted and needs to be changed. If it has discharged oil it has shorted out. If you can't read the mfd (microferad) you can go by the rated tonnage of the air cond for rule of thumb.

2 ton condenser = 25mfd capacitor
3 ton condenser= 35 mfd capacitor
4 ton condenser= 45 mfd
5 ton = 55 mfd

again, this is rule of thumb but should get your unit running again.

Carrier 38ckc036 fan will not run all you get is a loud humming sound. You can sometimes get the fan to run if you assist it with a stick but then it stops running after a few minutes

The motor may be burned up on your fan. However, it may be just the capacitor. To check this you will need an ohm meter with a mfd setting. Disconnect the power from the unit. (if it is installed correctly there should be a disconnect near the unit). Also shut of the furnace. This is to prevent you from doing damage to the 25V circuit. Remove the wires from the c and fan terminal on the capacitor. The capacitor is a round cylinder with three groups of terminals on the top. (if it is still original) set your meter to MFD and put one probe on the C terminal and the other on the fan. The meter will read OL for several seconds and then give you a number. Check the number on the meter against the lowest number written on the capacitor (I think this model uses a 35/5 370) If the MFD is not close to the posted number you probably just need a capacitor. If the top of the capacitor is poofed out (dome shaped) It is probably a safe bet it needs replaced. Hope this helps.

Nov 21, 2008 - I have a proview 19" LCD TV PA-19DK5. In the last few days when I turn on the tv the picture appears and disappears after 1 sec. audio is fine, when I use my xbox 360 through the component...

Please post the pictures, that will help. Do find any fuse in the inverter circuits, if you do have 5v (for logic) and 12v (for backlights), then may be the power supply is OK but I am not sure that the inverter is using 12vdc since you have some caps rated at 35vdc, Iwould expect the inverter to be using 24vdc for backlights. See some of the pictures I posted here:

Start up takes longer than 5 minutes

Check power board for capacitors with swollen tops. Replace them with same mfd value but slightly higher voltage value. Example if 1000mfd/10v use 1000mfd/16v.
