Hi,

When you say cutting off, do you mean just the sound or the power to the unit altogether?
If you mean, power to the unit goes out - this is a bad news.It sounds like a power supply issue to me. I would have the transformer leads checked for cold/ bad solder joints, and also the filter caps and power switch tested for shorts or open circuit respectively.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Sorry for the break. If after cutting off the red standby indicator blinks, it means you have an output short circuit or a asymmetrical power supply.
Any one of the power amplifier output devices could have shorted, triggering the Amplifier into protection mode. It is a safety feature to prevent speakers from getting damaged or further destruction of your Amplifier.
Second reason could be, you could have lost one of the power regulators on the Power supply board.
To look into the matter you will need an experienced technician with digital multimeter / soldering Iron etc. You will have to strip the whole amplifier to access the power regulators or the output device. You have to see the under side of the circuit board Multi channel DSP amps have a very inaccessible construction.
    Revert back for further assistance

How do i change a power supply

A hi-fi receiver typically does not have a power supply that you can simply remove the broken one and plug the new one in. They are not designed like desktop computers. Try to locate and fix the broken component first.

My sr5004 marantz receiver has gone into standby with the indicator is blinking how do i get ride of it

If the red led is blinking fast (8x/second) the power supply is likely damaged and the unit will need to be serviced. If blinking slow, the most likely cause would be a shorted speaker connection. To help find the cause, unplug everything including the power and speakers. Connect only the power and try to turn the unit on. If the light doesn't blink, you know you have a shorted connection. Power off and connect the inputs and then power back on. If the light is not blinking, you know the problem is with an output connection. Just find the bad connection by process of elimination.

My sr5004 marantz is in standby with the indicator is blinking on the front how do i get ride of it

Power the unit down and remove all cables. If it still blinks when you power back on, you probably have a PS failure. I could not locate any fuses or circuit breakers on mine and had to return for service. There is a factory reset that can be performed by pressing and holding the surround mode and clear buttons on the front panel at the same time for 3 seconds.

Standby ligth blinking

It is possible that the system is on protect due to an error . So it is not so easy to probe into to find a protection fault condition. The fault can be your output drivers- the MOSFETS/IC's fitted for both the channels, Use a meter after disconnecting to check for short in the drivers. Disconnect the positive and negative voltages to the output and see if the protect changes. Even a fault in the preamp stages that drives in high current into the output can shut the Amplifier. Sometimes this can be a noise like a HUM or HISS before the protect works. Faulty capacitors in these circuits also can cause similar issues and needs close observation.
You need to confirm and replace the specific stages or outputs. If not there can be issues in the mother board, maybe the protect circuit by itself is shutting off due to a faulty bias , maybe a leak in any voltage/current sensing circuit. Also disconnect the speakers and test, if the protect is off then check for short on the speakers.

Marantz SR5004: display says 7.1 CH input source direct. I can't change the sources at all. TV is working but no sound. I think my kids hit a few buttons, but I can't reset it. Thanks

Look on your remote. There is a button top right that says 7.1. Hit it. Reselect input and surround and you should be good to go.

New tv, new marantz sr5004, hdmi cable- no sound out of speakers

To really help you would require a bit more detail. HDMI is the video part of the signal - the audio part may require additional cables. Also, source material may play a role. I'd start by seeing if you have some audio outputs from whatever your source is and connecting those to the Marantz. Beyond that, I'd need more info to be sure I was giving decent advice.

SR5004 amp on standby mode (red light blinking twice a second) / cant get it out of stand by mode

I am having the same issue as well. If you press "clear" "exit" and "surround mode" all at the same time, it will come back on. It seems to be an overheating issue. If you put a fan on it, it helps, but does not fix permanently. Anyone have any ideas for a permanent fix?
