How to reinstall windows XP

Your model Toshiba notebook has a SATA hard drive.
The problem is that XP installation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on a disk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then, XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP. The FIX. Go into the BIOS and disable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is a IDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows has been installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver), then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive. http://www.fixya.com/support/r4335035-installing_windows_xp_sata_hard_drive

My toshiba satellite l645d is giving me error message check connection cable no bootable device

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

Hi! I've got a Toshiba Satellite L300 and it won't boot anymore. I get past the initial toshiba-screen where I can press F2 and F12 but afterwards there's just a black screen with a little...

You can retrieve your data by removing the hard drive and connecting it to an USB hard drive adapter then plug it into the USB port of a working computer. This computer will see this as an external storage device, you can then open the various folders and files to back up your data.
You can then return the hard drive back into the Toshiba then format the hard drive and reinstall Windows to get your Toshiba working again.

My toshiba satellite pro l300 tells me their is no hard drive

This means the hard diskhas failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty. First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If this does not work then reboot and go to theBIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn'tdetect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Next - to determine if thehard drive is faulty, remove the hard drive and insert it into an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a workingcomputer's USB port. If this computer cannot see itas an external hard drive and you cannot open the various folders and files,this confirms the hard drive is faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

I'm getting a popup "windows

Modern disk-drives have built-in performance-counters and self-diagnostic capabilities.

These 'SMART' disk-drives can tell when the disk-drive is not performing "optimally";
it's a sign, as Windows indicates, that the disk-drive is *SOON* to completely *FAIL* to work.

Backup your files (and E-mail and contacts and music) to DVD-recordable media, or to an external file-storage system. Then, on another computer, "test" to ensure that you can read that backup copy, before you do anything to the "original" files.

Then, buy a replacement disk-drive, install it, and reinstall Windows onto it,
reinstall your anti-virus, reinstall MS Office, run Windows Update several times,
and finally reload your files from your "backup" device.
