Question about Vizio VA19LHDTV10T 19 in. LCD TV

1 Answer

This is a problem with my Vizio 19 inch LCD TV. I bought it about a year ago. This didn't start happening until about half a year ago. One day the problem started while I was sitting there playing some video games (the fact it's a game instead of a over-the-air TV signal shouldn't make a difference though, I don't think). All of a sudden the screen went black, but the power indicator light did NOT change to yellow (as it would have if the TV was in the off state). The remote control wouldn't turn it off. The side panel buttons wouldn't turn it off. I could only turn it off by unplugging it. Sometimes unplugging it and then immediately plugging it back in would "reset" the problem. Other times the power would have to be unplugged for several minutes before the problem was "reset". But this would only give me a few minutes of use before it started acting up again. I also noticed that from a completely cold start (after it had unplugged for several hours at least) it would take about a half hour to an hour before the problem kicked in. If left alone when the problem was going on, it would have the screen go off, and stay off for about a half a minute to a minute, then the screen would come back on for anywhere between 1 and 10 seconds before it would shut off the screen again. This cycle would continue indefinitely. Though sometimes it would come back on with a green and magenta garbage image in the upper-left quarter of the screen with the rest of the screen being black, and this would stay on the screen instead of continuing the cycle. It would stay on the screen until the power plug had been pulled. When the screen is off, it is more than just the screen going black, as the remote control, and side panel buttons do nothing, and can't even turn off the TV. When the TV image does come back on (if it isn't the glitch-screen of green and magenta, but an actual TV screen) it will say 480i signal (as if it had JUST been turned on and had had acquired the signal), though it had technically never been turned off (power LED with the logo VIZIO stayed white, rather than turning yellow). This is not a full power off fault, but it is far more than just a screen or backlight problem, as it effects the digital circuits handling signal reception (seems to reset those) and the digital circuits handling TV control (TV is completely unresponsive to any remote control or side panel buttons). I have no clue what the problem is going on here. But I have a feeling it may need to be taken to an electronics expert who can diagnose the problem down to a component level, and solder in a replacement component. I hope it's something simpler than this. But if it's not simpler than this, I need to know. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello! I bought a LG 32-inch LCD (32 inch )

My best advice would be to call out your LG service repair engineer, it is most likely the current software in the TV is of an older version & will need to be re-programmed which an engineer should be able to check. This should cure the menu problem.

My Vizio LCD TV screen fades to dark. Sound stays on.

I w having this same issue when watching a Blu-Ray disc. I found it to be dependent upon what picture mode the TV was set to. By this I mean certain picture modes would cause the TV to dim during dark scenes of a movie. Changing the picture mode helped a lot.

Wavy red lines or red pixelation, not sure what it is

Go to Vizio website and buy the extending warranty, you need to have your TV replaced since the problem is with the screen itself.

Vizio GV42L LCD TV screen black when turn TV on first time

If you are using a set top box this might be caused by turnig the box on at the same tie as you turn the tv on or slightly after you turn the tv on.  If you are using compnent or HDMI inputs the set needs to see the signal as it is turned on to know what formt the signal is in.

Tv came back on!!! I have had my Vizio almost 5 yrs. But have to call the unhelpful customer service atleast once a year.... I hope this works for you :)
