    Hello Justin,
Just checked the bacl of fridge and cleaned the condenser fan which was very dirty and it seems a little better but still there is a slight sound of whistle from fan do I need to oil it at all like WD 40 spray or something?. Also there was some water in the reservoir tray under condenser which I cleaned. I think compressors ok.

However having looked at it again the sound might be coming from the compressor near the box connecting electrical wires . Is there any way of cleaning this area.

Hello Krespi,

I understand that you are having a problem with your refrigerator. When the cooling cycle is comming on you hera a buzzing and whistling noise. This is most likely comming from your compressor or fan.

What I would suggest you do is to pull your refridgerator out the next time that you hear the noise and locate exactly where the noise is comming from. The compressor is the big black tank looking thing here is a picture, the fan is usually close to it.

If you find out which is making the noise post back and I will help you to correct the problem.

The fan is whining you can add some lubricant like WD40. But you should also know that when they start whining it is not usually very long before they go out. I would take the time while you are down there to right down the numbers and contact a local supply shop to purchase another fan. They are usually very easy to change disconted three wires and uncrew two bolts and change the fan with the new one. Another thing that will help the unit to last longer is cleaning the condensation coils, they are located under the fridge as well a good thing to use is a vacum with the crevice tool and a long handle skinny brush. This will help to releave some of the heat from the compressor and not make it work so hard.
    Thank you

This can be the starter relay, on the compressor there is a long cylinder and a little round cover that has two wires going to it. The two wires will be coming from the long cylinder to the smaller cover this is your starter. YOu will want to turn the unit off and allow the compressor to cool. You will want to take the over off of the small item and disconnect the wires. Pull the starter straight out way from the compressor, it can look good. However, when you shake it if it rattles (you here ticking) it needs to be replaced. The problem you are having is one of the two of them the fan or the starter. The whistling may also be a freon leak. However, I would check the starter and fan first as a freon leak will require a service Tech. As the freon has to be recovered, leak found and fixed and recharged to exact specifications of the manufacturer.

    Post back what you find.

The sound can also be coming from the capacitor the long item. To check it you will need to unplug the unit and remove the cover and do not touch the contacts as capacitors hold power, use a pair of insulated pliers to remove the two wires. Use the pliers to touch both contacts to short the capacitor and take it to your local HVAC supplier and have them test the mfd's if they are not right purchase a new one not expensive and replace. Put everything back together and turn the unit back on. Most appliance supply shop can test and sell replacement capacitors and starts.

That would be the only three things that could be causing the noise form under your unit.

It sounds like your evaporator fan motor, they last about 4-5 years. Try to see if the buzzing noise comes from the motor, usually in the freezer compartment behind a vented cover plate

The freezer is usually cooled by the compressor, the fridge is then cooled by an evaporator fan motor ($30). If this fan seizes or slows down then the fridge warms up (it sometimes starts squealing before this happens). It could be that your drain hose is clogged or frozen. Maybe the temperature adjuster go bumped.

If you think it is the evaporator fan motor:
Check to be sure you can get a replacement fan first, they last about 4 - 5 years. Can get from a parts supplier or electric motor company.
UNPLUG fridge. Located usually in top of freezer behind a vented cover plate. Remove cover, remove screws holding fan in, may have to cut wires. Replace with new motor, make sure the fan pushes air into the freezer area and doesn't spin backward drawing air from the freezer area.

My ge profile fridge won't stay cold. the fridge is at 45 deg.

First things first - pull the fridge/freezer out from the wall, and look at the bottom.  You should see a metal coil somewhere - it probably needs to be cleaned.  Next, somewhere around the compressor (the big bulky thing in the bottom of the freezer) should be a fan blowing on the coil - make sure it is running.  That MIGHT have been the buzzing noise you describe - dirt on the fan blades or the fan hitting something.  Additionally, you can check the fan on the inside of the freezer - if it is stuck and/or not working, the air won't circulate properly, and you'll get pockets of different temperatures in your freezer.
Best of luck!

A loud intermitant buzzing coming from the back of the fridge

either the noise is coming form he ice maker fill valve( but if its of and still aking noise i doubt it. it also possible that the noise is coming from the compressor itself, overheating nad trying to restart in which case would give a slight "buzz" noise for 5secs or so then "click" off, and wait maybe 3 min to restart again. look for melted ice andperhaps your ice dream ont as hard as it should be???

Candy fridge freezer

it should come back after about 20 mins only and should cool back after about 10 mins.

i'm afraid the buzzing sound could be coming from your compressor which can not start. the over current relay is tripping off after 20 seconds to prevent the compressor from burning up.
i suggest to unplug the ref, let it cool for 1 day, re plug it after a day and observe the compressor if would run.

if the buzzing sound is still there and the unit is no longer cooling, then the compressor is not running.
check the relay of the compressor. it could just be the relay.

Loud noise from the freezer side

The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.

Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).

Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.
