Question about Craftsman 675 Torque 190cc 21" Briggs Stratton RearBag Push Lawn Mower (CA) ()

2 Answers

I have a Ariens string trimmer with a 625 series engine. I need to replace the engine, but all I can seem to find are the 675 series. Will it fit?

Thanks, what about the different shaft measurements? I'm not sure what I need.

Hi,

Yes, it should fit.The 625 and 675 both have 190cc of engine displacement, but the 675 produces 6.75 foot-pounds of torque to the 625's 6.25 foot-pounds of torque. They are 13.8 inches long, 12.1 inches wide, 9.8 inches high and weigh 24 pounds. Both have a fuel capacity of .25 gallons and an oil capacity of 20 ounces. They feature rewind starter and performance muffler, while the 675 has the ReadyStart system.

However, you could get the engines on many sites such as ebay. You could try to contact some other local vendor and i am sure, they would be able to take care of it. You could check the below list for the 625 series engine :-

http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=briggs+675&_sacat=See-All-Categories

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Hi.
I checked the briggs website, and the two engines are exactly the same size and weight, so yes it will work.

The 675 model has a feature that the 625 doesn't, it has what's called e=z pull.
If it fails to start after two pulls of the cord, briggs will fix it for free!!

That right there would be enough to make want to get the 675 engine over the 625.

All the bolt holes are located at exactly the same points, so it will mount up with ease.

I hope this helps you out, and good luck !

Throttle cable assembly

The cable you are trying to replace is the OPC cable (engine brake cable), not a throttle cable like you are trying to fit. You need to take it back and get an OPC cable, which will have the correct end on it to fit into the bracket on the side of the engine.

What is the correct gap setting for a Champion RJ2YLE spark plug used in a Toro Lawn mower?

Briggs & Stratton Part Number 799876 replaces Champion plug RJ2YLE. For use in Quantum Series 625, 675, and 725 engines built after Date Code 110701xx. The gap for this spark plug should be set to .020". This spark plug should not be used with Quantum Series 625, 675, and 725 engines built before Date Code 110701xx, or any other L-head engine family.

I have a 190 cc 675 series briggs and stratton engine on a craftsman bush trimmer. When I pour gas in the tank, gas immediately leaks outs of the primer bulb. Help please.

This condition indicates that the float and needle in the carburetor are stuck open. The only solution is to disassemble and clean the carburetor. Make sure that there is no fuel in your oil. If so, change the oil, remove the plug, turn engine several times to put oil back to where it needs to be (fuel acts as a thinner), replace plug and you should be ready to start.

I properly replaced the line spool but it won't feed automatically.

After you replaced your string in the trimmer and fed it through the hole in the plastic casing in which the spool fits into, did you pull the string until you hear a click? The click locks the string in, then you can bump and feed as usual. Otherwise it won't feed normally.

How do i restring the Ariens st 622 string trimmer

Cut two pieces of 18" commercial grade line - one to mount on each side. Look at the series of holes, two on bottom of rotating head, two immediately above but on outer lip of plate. Go up through the bottom two holes, even up your piece of line (like when you are putting in a new shoe string in a pair of shoes) and cross over then out through the top two. All done. If you are using an adequate grade of commercial line you can trim for hours over the roughest of stuff without worrying about restringing.
