Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

Hello, If anyone could help me out please, I have a Compaq Evo N610c Laptop with a cracked LCD display. So I just bought a used one from someone and when I went to hook up the new LCD after tacking mine off I realized that the new one is missing a few wires, and connectors, although the one connector and ground wire on the right side is there, it is missing the same on the other side plus their is the extra wires with the bigger clamp on the left side that is missing on the new one. it kind of looks like someone might have just ripped the wires out from inside of the display. So I guess my question is it can I take the connector, and wires from my old display and put them on the new one? and how? it looks like the screen has to be separated from the shell for me to even see what I'm working with.(and yes the 2 lcd's are the same) So please any help would be appreciated. Thank you

The ribbon cables usually have a plug on that end as well, but not always. good luck. you can take them apart safely as long as you keep track of how you did it and are extremely careful.

Problems with Compaq EVO D510 CMT P4 2.5/20GB/256MB PC Desktop video drivers cannot be found

I assumed you are using the integrated graphics and have not added a graphics card.

You can obtain all the drivers including the display driver from HP's website. The following link will take you to the drivers download page. Scroll down to Driver - Display.

Please note the link takes you to the Windows XP version of drivers. If you are using Vista, please use the search on HP's site to locate your exact model and OS.

Trying to wipe the hard disk of an old Compaq Evo

You message cut out. It's very difficult if not impossible to wipe a hard drive when you're using that hard drive. You need to get a program like Gparted or Disk Manager. The first is free and can be downloaded.
