I have already tried to go to the MENU. There is NO WINDOW FOR SOUND. If I press DISPLAY there is a MONO and AUTO choice with an arrow on the left but nothing I do will move the arrow to the AUTO posistion. it is stuck at the MONO posistion now.

Also, my volume now will not go above 50, it used to go to 100 yesterday, I assumed this was part of the MONO/AUTO problem.

My VOLUME will not go above 50, it usually will go to 100. If I push the DISPLAY button there are 2 choices AUTO and MONO with an arrow on the left. Now the arrow will not move to AUTO it is stuck on MONO. I checked the MENU but there is NO WINDOW FOR SOUND.

I am confussed, I own a TCL Model 2175 TV. Why are you answering a question about a JVC AV32F476 32" TV?

As I previously told you my menu button has no choice for any SOUND SELECTION.

I am very confussed, I own a TCL Model 2175 TV. Why are you advising me on a JVC AV32F476 32" TV?

MY MENU FUNCTION has no selections for any sound control. As of yesterday my volume would go to 100. Now today it is only going to 50. I assumed it was due to the MONO/ AUTO problem.

As of yesterday my TCL Model 2175 TV's volume will not go above 50. Previously it went to 100. My MENU has NO WINDOW FOR ANY SOUND SELECTIONS. Also, when I push the DISPLAY button it gives 2 choices, AUTO and MONO. There is an arrow on the left side pointing to MONO but nothing I do will change the arrow to AUTO.

Make sure the program you are trying to tune is braodcating a stereo signal or you will not be able to set the AUDIO MODE to anything but mono. Not every channel broadcasts in stereo sound.

You can also try using the VOLUME UP or DOWN keys right on the front of the set to move the arrow from MONO to AUTO when you are in the menu.

If nothing works, you may be able to alter the parameters you need to change on your TCL 2175 TV by entering the unit's Service Mode.

Normally, to enter the Service Mode, you just do the following:

Hold down the DISPLAY button on the remote and...
Hold down the VOLUME DOWN button on front of set, both at the same time for about 8 seconds.

To access the various parameters, use the PROGRAM / CHANNEL UP and DOWN keys.

To alter a value of any parameter, use the VOLUME UP and DOWN keys.

To exit service mode, power off the TV with the main switch on the front of the set.

Perhaps you will see a maximum volume limit parameter in the service menu options that you can increase.

Just be careful not to change any of the critical operating parameters in there. If you don't understand what the parameter value is for, then pehaps it's best not to change it, or at least check back here first with the details and get some additional advice before you do.

Unfortunately I was unable to locate a detailed service manual for that model yet, but if you comment back here to this page later that you are still having trouble, then I will look again.

Good luck.

Joe.

I've only posted one reply to your problem so far. This message here makes two.

Are you talking about the little black bar at the top of the screen that says YOU HAVE A NEW COMMENT, because that thing does tend to act up sometimes and shows up even when there is no new comment.

Otherwise let me know exactly what the problem is, and I will try to sort it out with the FixYa staff.

Hello
Can't make sound from mono to auto is your problem I thinks and posts this solution.
Hit the "Menu" button and surf through, come to "Sound Adjust" window.
The settings allow you to change and adjust sound in your TV. There are Bass, Treble and Balance control to adjust to your individual taste.
To adjust them
1. Press Menu button.
2. Press UP or DOWN button to select the desired item.
3. Press => or 4. Press EXIT button when finished.
When adjusting the parameter of "Balance" control, always set it to mid position to get stereo sound from both speakers. If it is set to any extreme end, there will be no output from the speaker of that side, and will hear as mono.
If you press "0" [Zero] button, you can reset the sound settings to it Factory settings.
To select 'Streo mode;
1. Press "Menu" button.
2. Press UP or DOWN button to select MTS [Multi-channel Telivision Sound].
3. Press => or [The ON AIR arrowtells you if a broadcast is in stereo AND/OR contains the SAP.
Press "Exit" button when finished.

Keep the TV in stereo mode to get the best sound quality. The sound will work in stereo

mode even if a certain broadcast is in mono sound only.

Choose the mono setting to reduce excessive noise on a certain channel or broadcast.
Selecting SAP will allow you to hear an alternative soundtrack, if one is available.

SMART SOUND function may now in "ON' state. If it is in "ON" state, the volume will not go above an extent with which it has been set for. Switch it to 'OFF". To do this:
    [1] Press Menu button.
[2] Press UP or Down arrow button to select 'Smart Sound".
[3] Press => or <= button to turn it ON or OFF. If you wish to get the full sound output, set it to "OFF'
    Press Exit Button when finishes.
    OK.

How do i change the AM radio to FM?

Hello
Press RADIO BAND.AUTO PRESET until the band you want appears in the display (direct power on). Each time you press this button, the indication changes as "FM" --> "AM". Hold down TUNE + or --, until the frequency digit begins to change in the display. The player automatically scans the radio frequencies and stops when it finds a clear station. If you can't tuned in a station, press the button repeatedly to change the frequency step by step. If FM broadcast is noisy, press "MODE" until "Mono" appears on the display and the radio will play in monatural without any noise. Only strong FM signals can be decoded to stereo. OK.

The mute light Is on and the radio won't play. But if we play It threw the did player it works. How do I get the mute off for the radio?

If the MUTE is right next to the TUNED, it means the FM is muting inter-station noise until you tune a station strong enough to produce good audio. This has nothing to do with speaker MUTING.

Find FM Mode (page 14) and change it to Mono. Then you will hear the noise between stations until you find one strong enough. Install an anenna (page 3) and you might get strong enough signals to return the mode to Auto.

Auto muting on when on am/fm and no sounds come out. everything else is fine.

That's normal.

The Auto Muting mode mutes the audio output of the tuner if the station is not sufficciently strong to be accurately tuned. Otherwise you would hear all that interstation hash noise.

Press the FM Mode button to change it to Mono if you want to manually tune a hard-to-reach station. It will be in Mono.

Page 26:

AUTO MUTING
Normally select this.
When a program is broadcast in stereo, you will hear stereo sound; when in monaural, you will hear monaural sound.
This mode is also useful to suppress static noise between stations. The AUTO MUTING indicator lights up on the display.

How to disable demo mode on JVC MX-c220

Make sure the unit is on. Press the FM Mode /Mute -Demo button (right next to the power) press it untill you get to either mono or auto (-for stereo). That will take the unit out of the demo mode. next turn the music jog dial (located just above the preset buttons) untill you get to which ever setting you choose. Hope that helps. ( I can't find the manual on line either- not even from JVC! )
