I appreciate the quick response, but this did not address my question at all. Your solution tells me how to switch out of T9 mode, but as soon as I switch back, the dictionary is still there. I want to delete words out of the stored dictionary - how can I do that?

Locate "Message" from the Menu and press the Center key. Go to "Settings'" and press "Ok", highlight "All messages" and then "Ok" . Go to "Entry Mode" and then press "Ok". Now from the options available in the "Entry Mode" select "Abc" and press "Ok". Here's the exact step by step flash tutorial for you. Click HERE, and click from 1 to 8 on the left hand side of the page while you watch the "Phone" picture in the middle of the page...

I am sorry that I didn't make this in more detailed explanation. Actually, I was thinking that you would like to disable the T9. Anyway, there are few options, you can try Resetting the phone to "Factory default" and Format the phone's memory using flashing software (in this case, you'll need to visit LG Service Center). You cannot only reset or clear the T9 entries. Before trying any of the below methods, please try to make sure all your phone's necessary data are backed up, for eg. Back up your contacts or important messages etc.. otherwise doing this/these will erase everything from your phone.

First of all, turn off your phone, take the battery out for five minutes then put back in hold down the menu button until in vibrates at the cricket screen. and it will boot in safe mode then shut down and restart again. This is the soft reset which will also erase all phone's memory.

Second, turn off the phone. Hold the volume up button and the end button, and hit the power button. It will take you to the force loader screen after a few seconds. This will also reset the phone.

Third, Go to Menu, open Settings, locate "Restore" or "Reset" or "Restore Default", open it and enter 0000 (4 zeros) when asked and follow the onscreen instructions. If that code doesn't work, try your phone's last found digits.

I hope one of the above methods will definitely work for you. If nothing is helpful, you'll need to Restore/Format your phone using a flashing software. In that case, you'll need to visit LG service center or a Local Mobile repairing shop.

    Good Luck.

How to add words to the t9 dictionary.

Adding words to your phone's T9 dictionary is quite simple.
If you have a newer model phone with newer versions of T9 when you try to enter a word that isn't recognized you should be presented with a prompt that says "Add word" or "Spell".

If you have an older version of T9 don't despair you can still add words. All you have to do in this case is: switch from T9 mode to "abc" mode and spell the word one letter at a time, hit the space key, then switch back to T9 mode. Whatever word you just spelled has now been added to your T9 dictionary.

How do i delete words that have been added to the dictionary on the tocco ultra

You can't delete other than by reflashing the phone or some phone RESETS will reset the dictionary You can however "lower" the word you want to ignore in the T9 word option list.

This is done by typing the same letters as the word you dont like such as "WOT "and repeatedly replacing ( i,e. choosing it from the options) it with the word you do want say "YOU".

So start an SMS message in T9 mode and repeatedly type "wot" and replace it with "you"

you you you you you you you you................
save the message in drafts

start a new message in abc mode the type

you you you you you you you you................

save to drafts..........

start a new message in T9 mode and Viola - "you" should be above "wot" in the word option list.

The T9 dictionary has "learned" your preference.

How can I erase a word from the T9 database?

You cannot delete a word from the T9 database. If you add lots more words with the same combination, then over time the word is erased. Or you could reset your phone's settings and data. You would lose all your contacts and messages and everything, but even the dictionary will be reset.

Have you asked your service provider about this issue???

There are several methods used to entering letters and numbers in test messages or SMS. Generally speaking, there is "ABC" mode where you select each letter by pressing a key several times until you get the letter you want. There are several "ABC" modes ... there is "ABC". "Abc" and "abc" all related to capitalization rules you want to follow.

Another method is called in a lot of LG models, "T9" where the phone uses a built in dictionary to select the word you want with only one press on the key. The phone will try to select a word, but it may not be correct after you pressed all the letters. There is a "next" key, usually the "0" which will roll through the words available until you find what you want. I use a modified T9 method. Some times I want a word that is not in the dictionary so I enter part of the word, then space, then clear and enter the next part of the word to get what I want.

Other data entry methods are "123" and symbols. Use your telephone 'soft keys' to make these selections according to instructions on the screen.

You may need to visit your service provider store for additional assistance in operating your telephone.

Is it my imagination or is it true my new env3 does not support t9 or preemptive text?

From the front screen and keyboard:
(i.e. with the phone closed)
While entering a message, hit the main "OK" button for "Options".
Item #2 in this menu is "Entry Mode."
T9 is on this list.

Operating from the internal LCD screen and QWERTY keyboard:
Hit OK to get to main menu
Select "Messages"
Once in that menu, the left option key beneath the main LCD screen is "Settings" - hit that
On that menu, item #2 is "Entry Mode" where you can select T9

I have read of difficulties getting the enV3 T9 mode to add new "user" words that you might want to program into the T9 dictionary, so don't be surprised if you have trouble with that.

T9 Dictionary on Samsung SGH-A707

The only way to fix this is to completely reset your message memory. To do this, go to Menu -> Settings -> Memory Settings -> Clear Memory -> then click Messaging and OK. You will be prompted to enter your password. Enter it, confirm and you should have no problems.

Predictive text

Hi,

I had this problem and it was very annoying. What you have to do is..... create a new text message, enter the text that is annoying (mine was is coming up as 47). When you type the word and it comes up with the annoying one, select the word that you wanted and enter a space, and do it again and again (you can do this in the same text message - it can take up to 20 goes and eventually, the dictionary recognises that you actually wanted "is".

Reset the T9 text dictionary

I ran into this problem as well, and it is extremely annoying. I just lived with it for the longest time and then I finally decided to go looking for a solution. That came to a quick end when I found the Samsung FAQ and it said that there is no way to delete words from the predictive dictionary. However, that got me thinking. If it's predictive, can I teach the predictive to write the correct word? The answer is YES! Open a blank text message, don't worry about a number just go to the text entry portion. Type out the word and press zero to change it to the correct word instead of the numbers. Do this 10-20 times IN A ROW and then the phone will recognize the right word as being most used and change it back to that.
