Fridge Freezer been laid on its back now freezer struggling to freeze

Although there is a lot of confusion out there on this subject, most manufacturer advice is to allow a fridge to stand for at least 24 hrs after being laid down. So unplug the unit and allow it to do that.

One manufacturer advises that a fridge treated in this way may then take up to 72 hrs running before it can recover fully.

I have a kitchenaid Superb refrigerator KSCS25INSS01 and the temps are warmer than normal.

I have a similar problem, I have the same model number, mine is too cold in the the refrigerator but has the same " whirring/click noise" .I have removed the back cover and observed the condenser fan motor cycling on and off in 10 second or so intervals. the compressor is not trying to start so my guess is the control board is bad. I was hoping you have solved your problem before I buy a $250.00 part or a new "Frig" this one is 8 years old.
Lil help?

Stopped cooling. fan still runs. after several hours started cooling good again.next morning stopped cooling again

Your defroster timer switch may be at faught. The defrost timer turns on a heating coil to defrost your frige. This is only a guess since I don't have the model and year. Do this: feel the walls if they are hard and they have no give to them, then your fridge is frozen up solid and no air can circulate. Unplug you fridge for 24 to 36 hours. Put towels on the floor to catch the water. If the defrost timer is bad it will defrost naturally with room temp. Plug back in after 24 to 36 hrs and see if bottom is now getting cold. If it is the defrost timer, the solution is not cheap. It's up to you to repair or invest in new. Good luck Google burdfrenzy

FRIDGE/FREEZER ON THE BLITZ?

Try removing everything out of your fridge, switch it off and open all doors for 12 hrs. Then close doors and switch it on for another 24 hrs before putting in you stuff. most likely the evaporator is iced up, you need to defrost if fully.

Fridge not cooling

Make sure your upper fan is working ,its located inside the freezers back wall. If it is running the vent from the freezer over to the refrigerator may be blocked. With out a fan you have no circulation but your freezer may look likes its working,Also if you can pull everything out unplug it turn it down defrost w/ doors open 12 to 24 hrs this will free up any clogged tubes.Turn up to 4 and let it adjust Good luck.

first off, any time you lay a refrig down you should have it remain standing up for a minimum of 24 hrs forthe compressor oils to return to the copresssor, unplug and allow to rest for allotted time try again tommorw morn.

Refrigerator doesn't stay on.

sounds like when you moved it you created an air lock, when moving fridges etc. should always leave for 24 hrs to settle before plugging in.... , no guarantee but try laying it down and leaving overnight then stand it up again and leave for at least 24 hrs for the refrigerant to try and sort itself out. UNPLUGGED from mains of course... good luck

Same as 6-9-08 freezer ices up, frig won't cool

Not sure if this will help but I have/had a similar problem with my admiral side by side (approx 12 yrs old not sure of the model #)and I think I fixed it this morning..
At the back of the fridge compartment I removed the cover (covers the light and controls) the Freezer setting just seems to adjust a flap that sends cold air into the fridge.. around the flap was a mass of ice.. what seemed to be happening was as this 'vent' was blocked with ice no cold air entered the fridge and the temp stayed high and hence the stat did not cut out .. compressor running flat out 24/7..... I removed the ice and it now seems to be working better (2-3 hrs will see what its like when I get home from work..!)
