I have model # OP1033NR and the cassette player has started dragging very badly. Can I get a new belt for the tape player?

I will accept this answer because the belt is what my husband says is wrong with it and we will get the belts and try them out. Hopefully this is it.

Hi stretchb,
I've tried to look in my link to get the exact replacement belt of your model but it was not available. You may try this replacement belt for your cassette.
Hope I helped you.

Cassette tape will not play, just screeches, why

Without a make and model, the only suggestion I have is bad belts. Some players can require a lot of disassembly to get the new belts on. If you go to Turn Table Needles, they have a nice feature where you can enter your make and model number to see what belts you will need.

My VCR/DVD combo wont play a VHS tape when inserted. Each time I insert a VHS tape, it shoots it right back out and sometimes unravels the tape around the apparatuses inside the VCR. It won't reco

the tape coming back out and unravels the tape means the loading mechanism is the problem----when a tape goes in it loads the tape down, then it pulls the tape out of the cassette and puts it up against the drum with the video heads-----many of these are belt driven and a bad belt or belts will cause this----it is called the loading and or transport mechanism.......when it fails the arms come back but the tape does not get rewound back into the cassette so it mangles it when the cassette door on the tape closes----most likely a belt or the drive idler which also rewinds and fast forwards the tape.

Cassette player quit working on crosley cr24-003

Check its belts. Replace them. Belts can be bough from most of the electronics spare part selling shops at your town. They are available in kit form, according to model number of your player.

Requestin replacementsize of belts for Sony TC WE305 cassette player, not a boombox

A Tv repair shop carries a large stock of belts, probably a good place to start. The other option is order from Sony online and ask for the Technical Department.

My cassette player on both side's will not play

Most likely cause are bad belts, when you have the play button only partly pushed in the pinch roller is not fully engaged. When you push it in all the way the drag is too much for the worn belts and they are slipping causing the cassette to drag.

I think the actual tape cassette is the problem not the player. olde tapes play very slowly, dragging, distorted sound. New tapes are fine. What can I do to re-vitalise the old draggy cassettes?

Actually the tape player itself is likely to be causing the problem. Cleaning the pinch roller and tape heads with a qtip and a small amount of rubbing alcohol should do the trick
