Another easier to fix problem that acts the same way is a bad memory card. Try replacing the memory card (or have someone else do it for you)

Battery is showing 100 percent but you unplug power supply computer shut down also when you wiggle cord power shuts down

The DC jack in the computer has detached itself from the motherboard causing intermittent shutdowns, the laptop must be dis-assembled to re-solder the jack back in place, and may need to replace the DC jack if the old one is not suitable.

My compaq pc notebook is dead. The power light is on and i can hear the cd click but screen is black and won't load a cd either. then the computer shuts down completely and tries to boot up again. I did...

Base from the description of your problem , this seems to be a motherboard failure already. The blacking out of your screen before this problem started is a sign of something on the motherboard is already failing.

Now since the computer will just power ON and automatically shut itself down is definitely an implication of motherboard and processor failure it can be due to overheating problem, so if you want to continue using this laptop a motherboard replacement is needed, you can take replace it by yourself if you have any experience doing those kind of things but if not better take it to a repair shop or better yet do a upgrade and get a new laptop then.

Unit will not power up , shuts down

Possibly a broken battery. Some laptops actually need some charge in the battery, even when on the mains power.
Know anyone else with the same computer?
