take it to an appliance repair shop but I would consider the cost to repair would exceed the cost of a new one

My ultra T-fal iron is leaking right out of the iron, before I turn it on. Should I get a new iron, or can this be fixed?

I believe there`s faulty construction'and the cost to repair is about as costly as a new purchase. The valve that inhibits the water flow apparently is remaining open.

Leaking where the base plate attaches to the upper portion of the iron thus causing all the water to eventually run out onto the iron board or item being ironed. I do not have original receipt or box but...

This is a leak on the seating of the body to the frame and it is possible that the seal is not tight. It can be tightened with the screw fittings inside the handle but if you can get warranty for the Iron it will be bettter than tampering within.
Now for the time being do not use water into the iron but have it dry and sprinkle from outside till you get confirmation from Walmart.

I ironed about 2 hours last night before bed. Tried to iron some more (about 16 hours later) and it won't power up. No warning at all. What could be the problem? I didn't drop it.

Hi,
If you turned off the switch then it is a good bet the problem is in the switch... otherwise it just decided to quite...at any rate it will cost more to fix it then a new one will cost you...

I HAVE A LEAKY IRON, SUNBEAM AND ROWENTA

Buy a new one , the tank seals have gone and it is not worth repairing it.

Cost of parts plus cost of fitting = new iron with a 12 months warranty

OVerheats - no control-thermostat? Can this be replaced?

Yes but it is probably cheaper to buy a new iron

The days of repairing small appliances went out of the door some 15 years ago.

Minimum 1 hour labour charge plus the parts cost at whatever Westinghouse want to charge will be circa $40

You then have an iron with and old tank , and old element etc etc waiting to go wrong to cost you another fee

I have had 2 Shark irons and both simply stop turning on

The cost of repair is more than the cost of a new one. Therefore, trash it and buy a new one.

My iron

Trash this iron as the cost of repair would be a lot more than going to walmart and getting one.
