Re: print quality is very poor
I used to use an LX300 and have never had this problem. I'm not sure what unclear means so I will just do some guessing. Clarity of the print depends on 3 things, software, printhead and ribbon. These are your problem areas. Epson has an option to print NLQ or near letter quality. So that should give more clarify. I basically double prints the same letter to create a darker image. The printhead, if your printer is really old, you need to either find someone to refurbish the printhead or buy a new printhead because it could be the impact pins are bent and not giving the strongest image. Lastly the ribbon, obvsiously the more used the ribbon is the weaker the image. So either re-ink the ribbon or buy a new ribbon cartridge. Hope this helps.

Whats the question?? if poor quality printing, it could be dirty ink cartridges, dirt on the print head, poor quality paper ??? try looking at the printer settings, sometimes they may be set to economy rather than top quality printing.
You do not say what exact model of printer you are using so any answer will be generic rather than specific.
Poor colour and black tone can be as a result of various factors: 1. Poor paper quality that you are printing on. 2. Poor ink or toner quality being used. 3. Use of Ink / Toner saving modes or software. 4. Worn or damaged printer components such as the fuser roll on a laser printer and other similar consumables with a limited page use life. 5. Poor quality content being printed, i.e. low quality images being printed at too high a print resolution.
The print quality of dat matrix printers depends upon the printer ribbon. If the ribbon is old or worn out then the print will be very light. In this case replace the ribbon.
Dot matrix printers are very old technology and I suggest you get a Inkjet printer or a laser printer.
Dot matrix printers cannot match the print quality of Inkjet and laser printers.
Yes cleaning the LED heads do make a difference. If they are even the slightest bit dirty your output will be affected. However the quality of the prints on these printers are not very good. I have 3 of them and all of the product subpar quality (right out of the box) especially with lighter solid background colors.
On card stock (especially coated card stock) you'll notice shading on the entire page. Again this happened out of the box on all three of my printers. I researched this and read that it was an effect of the LED technology.
Also if you look closely at your prints you'll notice that there are bars in your print. These bars look like there could be something wrong with the LED matrix...
I just installed a magicolor 7450 II and man what a difference. No shading, perfect picture quality, and larger banner printing (12" x 47") Of course the price tag is a lot more ($3k)
probably no much you can do the correct the problem because The problems that users encounter while using a Dell printer varies with the model. However the common problems all Dell printer models suffer from are their slow speed and faulty paper feed mechanism. Quality of prints varies from one model to another, but most of the models do not produce prints having very fine qualities. A Dell printer is particularly notorious for its poor and faulty feed mechanism. They tend to cripple the papers or take in large number of papers at a time and print parts of documents on each page. They keep on generating messages indicating lack of paper, no matter the paper is being supplied or not. Such a problem makes the printer absolutely useless
