If you reinstalled XP retail version it may not include the drivers, you may need to download driver from the Dell support page

I have reinstalled windows vista home premium on my dell laptop and now I have no network adaptor. what do i do?

It looks like that your Network drivers are missing and not installed, but don't worry you can reinstall your network adapter drivers online from dell website and here is the link.

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/

Enter your Service Tag which you can find in the back of your computer.>>hit enter and now select your operating system and drivers category like network drivers you are looking and download them.

you can copy that drivers into flash drive or any other device and then you can install into it into your dell computer if you don't have internet in dell vista computer.

I had a working Dell computer - accessing the internet through a wireless router - computer became unbearably slow - re-installed Windows XP 2002 SP1 everything's fine except the network adapter that was...

You don't say what make/model of network adapter (NIC), whether it's wired or wireless, or if it was operating under the same service pack level before, so I have to make a lot of assumptions.

Is Windows really not recognizing it (ie: does it have an exclamation mark next to the NIC in device manager?) or is it being recognized by Windows but just cannot connect to the wireless router? If the latter, check your wireless configuration (SSID, WPA key, etc). Since you have WinXP SP1, it could be that there is not a driver for that particular NIC. Later service packs include updated drivers as well as bug and security fixes. Recommend you identify the NIC and if you have the driver disk for it, go into Windows device manager to select a reinstall from that disk. If you don't have it, use another computer to download its driver and after installing it and getting Internet access, you should also download and install the latest SP, which would be SP3.

I recently had to reinstall windows to my computer and i borrowed a xp disk from a friend it installed fine but i cant set up a network connection. do i need to install drivers or is it something else?

Yes, you need to install the drivers for your network adapter inside your computer. Check your device manager to see if the network adapter is missing the drivers. If it is, you'll have to download the drivers from another computer through the Internet at the manufacturers website. Use a USB flash drive to download the file and then transfer it to the computer with the missing driver. Then install it.

I get a network adaptor missing error message when I try to conect to the internet

A few quick questions.

1) can you still connect to the internet despite the error?
2) what operating system are you running (Windows, Mac, Linux)
2a) what version, (e.g. windows xp, windows vista)
3) were you ever able to connect to the internet with this computer?

Thanks
Mike

Dell Dimemsion 9100 cannot connect to internet. Windows cannot repair the problem. Tried Windows and Dell drivers for network adapter with same results. Yellow caution sign on network icon.

Hi there

I can understand your issue.

When you same yellow caution i believe the network driver is not installed properly. To resolve this issue please go to device manager.

Locate for the network adapter and click on + sign to explore it.
Below that you can see your network device name, right click on and click uninstall.

Then reboot the computer and that will try to install the network driver ( It works in XP & VISTA). Cause XP & VISTA has the ability to load the default driver.

Then try to reinstall it and that should work.. If still the same issue kindly revert.......

Reinstalled Windows XP no ethernet card

Hi,

It seems that after re-installing windows you have missed the Driver installation for your hardware. If you have a disk (which reads Drivers and Utilities) that came with your computer, You can insert it in your CD Driver and select the Driver for Network adapter. If you do not have a disc, you can always visit the Dell's support site i.e.:support.dell.com and Get the drivers suitable for your hardware by selecting the model or Entering the Service Tag of your Dell computer.

For your convenience I am providing below the link for Drivers for Dimension 4700 Desktop PC as you have mentioned.
Intel (R) PRO/100 Driver for Dimension 4700

Hope you find this information helpful.

Ethernet controller and USB are missing on XP

Yes, the device-drivers can be downloaded from the Internet, to one computer, and then burned onto a CD-writable, or written to a USB memory-stick, and then the files can be physically moved to the other computer.

But, "which" device-drivers is completely dependent on which computer that you have. Some motherboards have "integrated" network-adapters and "integrated" USB-ports.

Easiest solution is to take an add-in PCI network-adapter card, and install it, and connect the Ethernet cable to its socket.
Hopefully, Windows will recognize that card, and automatically load the correct device-drivers from the C: drive, i.e., without Internet access.
Or, if you buy an add-in card, it may come with a CD-ROM that contains the device-driver.

Once the device-drivers have been installed, you will have Internet connectivity. Access: http://WindowsUpdate.Microsoft.com
and click "Custom" scan, and then click "Optional Hardware".
Windows Update should find the device-drivers for your motherboard, and install them. Then, you can remove the add-in card, and connect the Ethernet cable to the "on-mother-board" network socket.

Device manager and network adapter missing

you need to reinstall the drivers for your network, such as the ethernet and the wireless drivers. try to check if you still have the dell resource cd drivers disc. you need to insert that disc and check for the network drivers install them one at a time. if you no longer have the drivers disc then you can download it from a diff computer that has an internet connection. this is the website http://support.dell.com

click on the drivers and download and click on the green icon to enter the service tag. after that it will display all the drivers. you can download just the network first and save it to a storage device. then install that to your computer and download the rest of the drivers after you connected to the internet.

Dell vostro 1700 NETIO.SYS 0xc0000098

This is probably a problem with either the media (bad disk, or picky optical drive) or with some hardware. In the first case, I would try to reinstall first, and if that fails consider using a different drive or disk (if possible). As it points to the Netio.sys file, in the second scenario it may be related to a network device (i.e., ethernet). My suggestion in that case would be to remove all devices possible from the computer, and to disable on-board LAN/audio in BIOS to see if that helps.

Ethernet not working after format and xp reinstall

Right-click the My Computer icon and select Manage, then go to the Device Manager in the list on the left and find the Network Adapter from the list on the right, right-click Network Adapter and select Uninstall. When you reboot, XP should find the Adapter and reinstall it automatically. Another reboot may be required.

If it still will not connect, go to the NIC Manufacturer's website and download the driver to removable media. The Driver Update option can be accessed in the Device Manager, but this time select Properties when you right-click the Network Adapter, and go to the Driver tab.
