Paper Jam in fuser on my CP2025. I have opened all drawers and doors and was able to find jam. but a small piece of the paper was torn and inside of the fuser assembly. Any way to open fuser assembly?

The steps to remove the fuser from the printer at quite lengthy and should be avoided if at all possible. Any way you can get to the paper as is? Also be careful when trying to get paper out of the fuser as it is easy to damage either the rubber pressure roller or the telfon coated hot roller. Sometimes small jams will come out if you can get the printer to print a page.

    Every page printed now creates a new jam. Am considering replacing fuser assembly. I now need directions on replacing fuser assembly.

you need to check does the sensor on the drawer which is on the right side front of the drawer, does correspond with the paper inside the drawers.

Fix paper jam 2 on a Samsung CLX-3170 printer


paper jam 2 is a jam in the fuser/exit area.

did the paper jam come out in one piece? if not reassemble the torn paper to see how much is still inside.

sometimes there will be a small fingernail size piece of paper holding open the fuser/exit sensor flag.

sometimes the sensor flag itself is dislodged and needs reassembly.

This error is associated with either a sheet of paper blocking the paper path or a partial piece of paper that blocks path or trips a sensor. The printer will usually throw up a error code 13.XX on the display and the XX is a number that will indicate where in the paper path this error most probably occurred. Just follow the steps for your error on the below chart.

HP Laserjet Error Codes 0 - 19 Message on printer Display Panel What it means. What to do. 13.XX PAPER JAM [LOCATION] Media is jammed at the specified location (and possibly at other locations). If the message persists after all jams have been cleared, a sensor or sensor lever might be stuck or broken. For all jam messages, do the following: 1. Remove jammed print media from the specified location. Check the entire paper path for other pieces of media in the path. 2. Open and close the top cover to clear the message. 3. Check sensors and flags in the paper path for proper operation. 3.0 PAPER JAM [LOCATION] A non-specific paper jam occurred. 1. Remove jammed media from the specified location. 2. Verify the paper tray is fully closed. 3. Inspect and/or replace the feed and separation rollers. 4. Ensure there is no obstruction in the path, such as a torn piece of paper. 5. Open and close the top cover to clear the message. 6. Check sensors and flags for proper operation. 13.1 PAPER JAM OPEN INPUT TRAYS Paper-delay jam at paperfeed area. 1. Ensure that paper trays are loaded and adjusted properly so media can feed from the tray. It might be necessary to reduce the stack height of media in the tray. 2. Check the input area for obstructions such as media in the path. Also check to see if the registration assembly damaged or unseated. 3. Replace any defective sensors or flags. 4. Verify the media meets the specifications. 5. Check the pickup feed and separation rollers for unusual wear. Replace as needed. 6. Rotate the media in the input tray by 180° and/or turn it over On NX engines this is most likely the fuser flag or the ACPM. The ACPM has a photosensor hard-wired to the back of it. 13.10 PAPER JAM CHECK DUPLEXER Jam at duplexer. 1. Check the duplexer and the rear area of the printer for obstructions or damage. 2. Check the duplexer for proper operation. Replace the duplexer if a sensor is defective. On a 5si, 8000, or 8100 series laserjet a Duplex Jam can be caused by a tray 2 and 3 feed assembly failure. 13.14 For Laserjet 5si. This error is caused by a defective paper control PCA Replace paper control PCA. 13.2 PAPER JAM OPEN INPUT TRAYS Paper-stopped jam at paper-feed area. 1. Check the input area for obstructions such as paper in the path. Also check to see if the registration assembly is damaged or if the transfer roller is out of place. 2. Replace any defective sensors or flags. 3. Ensure the media does not exceed the maximum length. 4. If multiple sheets are feeding, it might be necessary to fan the media and reduce the stack height. Also, replace separation pad. 5. Verify that the fuser is properly installed. On NX engines this is an input jam. 13.20 PAPER JAM CHECK REAR DOOR Media stopped in the paper path during power on or when the top door was closed. 1. Remove all media in the paper path, and then open and close the top cover. 2. If the message persists after all media is removed: Check if media is jammed in the prefeed area. Replace any defective sensors or flags 13.21 DOOR OPEN JAM The top cover was open while printing. 1. Clear the jam and close the top door. 2. If the message persists, check the top door switch for proper operation. 13.5 PAPER JAM CHECK REAR DOOR Paper-delay jam at fuser. 1. Check the transfer roller and small media belt to ensure they are operating and can feed print media. 2. Check the paper path for obstructions at the transfer roller, toner cartridge, paper feed assembly, and fuser. 3. Replace any defective sensors or flags. 4. Turn the media stack over and/ or rotate it by 180° in the input tray. If still persists - replace fuser, then DC controller. 13.6 PAPER JAM CHECK REAR DOOR Paper-stopped jam at fuser. 1. Check the paper path for obstructions at the fuser and output/delivery area. 3. Replace any defective sensors or flags. 13.99 PAPER JAM [LOCATION] A non-specific paper jam occurred. 1. Paper is jammed in my HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-One. Can't figure out how to open machine to remove paper.


Follow these steps to clear the jam from the product. Step one: Remove any loose paper Remove any loose sheets of paper from the input tray and the output tray.
CAUTION: Do not remove jammed paper at this stage. Trying to clear jammed paper from the front of the product can damage the print mechanism. Remove any loose paper Do not pull jammed paper c01954290.gif c01961869.gif Step two: Clear the jam from the rear of the All-in-One Follow these steps to clear the paper jam from the rear of the product.
CAUTION: Never pull jammed paper from the front of the product. Pulling paper from inside the front cover can cause mechanical damage to the product. Always access and clear paper jams through the rear access door.
  1. With the product powered on, disconnect the power cord, USB cable, and Ethernet cable from the rear of the product.
  2. Press in the tab on the rear access door to release the door. Pull the door away from the product to remove it. Figure 1: Remove the rear access doorc00703963.gif
  3. To avoid tearing jammed paper, gently grab both edges of the jammed paper, and then pull with even pressure to remove.
  4. Use a flashlight to thoroughly check the rollers and wheels for torn pieces of paper that might remain inside the product.
    CAUTION: Make sure to remove any bits of torn paper from the rollers inside the product. If any torn pieces of paper remain inside the product, more jams are likely to occur. Figure 2: Check the product for bits of torn paperc01979299.gif
  5. While you have the rear access door removed, check the rollers with your fingers. Rollers should roll freely and feel springy. If rollers are missing or do not turn freely, buy a replacement rear access door. Click here to order a replacement part from HP .
  6. Reattach the rear access door. Gently push the door toward the product until it snaps into place.
Step three: Clear the jam from the front of the All-in-One
CAUTION: Carefully remove bits of torn or jammed paper from the front of the product. If you pull too hard on jammed paper, you might damage the print mechanism.
  1. Make sure that you disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.

  3. Gently pull out any jammed bits or torn pieces of paper from the rollers inside the product.
    CAUTION: If the paper tears when you remove it from the rollers, check the rollers for torn pieces of paper that might remain inside the product. If pieces of paper remain in the product, more paper jams might occur.
  4. Close the cartridge access door.
  5. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
  6. Press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn on the product.

Paper jammed message won't go away


Presumably this error follows an actual paper jam (whether the culprit has admitted it or not). The following is general advice that applies to paper jams in most printers, copiers, etc.

In my experience at least 98% of paper jam errors are because a piece of paper is still caught inside the printer. The remainder are generally due to a damaged paper jam detector (usually a small plastic arm which actuates a switch inside the printer) or less commonly a failure on the PC board which senses paper jams.

Please return to point 1 and look (again) for a piece of paper jammed in the printer. If the jammed paper was torn from the printer, only a small remnant has to remain inside the printer to generate an unclearable paper jam error.

Switch off the printer at the wall and unplug it. Remove the paper tray from the printer. Check to see if the printer has an access door in the rear to allow you to see inside (open it). Open any other external flaps (eg. manual paper feed tray) that will allow you to see inside. Open any internal flaps or levers designed for user operation and usually indicated with a green or orange coloured tab. Occasionally a page can wrap completely around a roller and be very hard to see. Be very suspicious of any 'white' roller' - check at the ends to note if the roller is actually a different colour with a complete page wrapped around it (generally then only removable by tearing other than complete disassembly by a professional). If paper was torn you may need a pair of tweezers and some determination to remove any small paper pieces wedged inside the printer. Ensure the printer is unplugged from the wall and avoid damaging any rollers or other parts inside the printer. Always remove jammed paper by pulling it in the direction of normal travel only. On rare occasions very serious paper jams may need expert service to dismantle and reassemble the printer.

After finding and removing all paper pieces, return all levers, flaps, doors, paper trays etc to original positions, reconnect power to the printer and test.

Printer problem


even a very small piece of paper (A small piece torn off a jammed sheet) can cause the sensor arm to stick in place giving a false paper jam. Double check the entire paper path (what is visible) using a flashlight.
Also, check for broken "flag" sensors. Basically a flag sensor is a small piece of plastic that is pushed out of the way when the paper is traveling through the unit. If one of these flags is broken it may display a paper jam error as well (The flag after paper travels through will drop back into the paper path.) If this is broken it will not trigger the sensor and thus the error condition exists..
Most likely you have a small piece of paper stuck inside the paper path somewhere.
Do not, I repeat do not use any sharp or pointed metal objects to remove any small paper from within the fuser unit, the fuser covers are very delicate and such poking and prodding will likely damage the fuser covers, causing bad print quality or drastically decrease the fuser life (a small tear will quickly render the fuser useless).

Phantom Paper Jam


There may be a problem with the fuser unit. First check all the doors and drawers for paper jams, including removing the toner cartridge and looking inside. Leave the cartridge out, turn off your machine, unplug for 1 minute, then turn back on. Close door without the cartridge inside. Machine should tell you to insert cartridge. Put it back in, and see what it does. If a simple reset like i have described does not solve the problem, there may be a small piece of torn paper somewhere, or a sensor may be broken or dirty. Please reply with the results!

If you have a duplexer check in there. also sometimes the paper will get stuck in the fuser and will be torn off inside. you can take the fuser out with a phillips (2 screws) and and 2 plugs. check and rotate fuser by hand to be sure it is clean. re assemble
