Question about Ryobi 30cc 17" String Trimmer Zrry30530 Wcurve Shaft

Open Question

I disassembled the trigger housing on my Ryobi String Trimmer RY34421 and while doing so an oddly shaped spring popped out --- now, on re-assembly I have no idea where it goes. I've looked at the parts diagram for my model and it does show a spring but it doesn't look like the one that popped out. Any idea where it might go?

There are two springs for the trigger housing. One that returns the throttle trigger back to idle, and also one that makes the safety catch pop back up after it is depressed. The diagram leaves a lot to be desired. Could you describe what the spring looks like and do you know where the other spring hooks up? Answering these questions will help to get you the best advice.

Ryobi string trimmer RY34420 has a non retracting pull cord. How do I fix it?

The starter assembly is between the motor and boom so you have to remove the boom from the motor housing. Usually one nut & bolt at the nose of the starter housing. There may be another lock bolt. You shouldn't have to remove the throttle cable and leads but it depends on how tight the factory installed them. Remove the starter housing. If you're real lucky all you have to do is pull some starter rope up past the pulley and wind the pulley in the direction the rope pulls back into the housing. You have to pull the rope around the pulley as you wind it. If the spring catches and builds tension you're good, wind it four or five times or enough to fully pull the rope back in. If the spring doesn't catch or releases every two or three turns it has to be replaced. You may have to replace the spring and container (PN638033001) and/or the easy start assembly (PN310022001).

How do you change the string feeder on a ryobi gas

If your machine is a "bump feed" there should be a knob on the bottom of the string feed.....this is a LEFT HAND thread, so turn it clock wise and it should pop free and unscrew....re-string your cartridge and replace it tightening the knob counterclockwise until it stops....that should do it !!!... ;-D

I have a Ryobi RLT30CESN. The started cord broke

Dont remove the center screw out of the spring pully or the spring will fly out. you put in the cord while the spring is assembled inside. Take the housing off but do not remove the pulley unless the spring is broken. The string can be put in using needle nose pliers from the inside of the housing once it has been removed. once installed you wind the cord around the pully and then turn pulley untill you get proper spring tension. Once tension is achieved you fish the cord back threw the eyelet coming out of the housing and tie the handle to the cord. It is a really simple and easy thing to do but hard to put into words.

How do I replace the pull cord on a ryobi #ss30 weed trimmer

You need a long skinny T25 torque driver (sold in a pack at Lowe's with 3 other sizes.)

Take off the 4 screws in the back to reveal the piston. Get a wooden dowel (or a wooden spoon if your wife isn't around) and stick it in to the piston to block it from spinning.

Now take that T25 and stick it in to the front pulley (cone shaped silver item that is preventing the housing from coming off) turn to the left and it should come off.

That should come off to reveal about a 1"x1.5" piece with a spring wrapped around it. That can also turn to the left and come off with an adjustable wrench or pliers.

Once that is off the housing should come away and you'll be able to get at the pull cord after removing 4 more T25 screws.
