Hi...and thanks...but all those things have not helped...the unit has a slot for an SD card but no SD card came with the contents....I have noted another person has had the same problem and posted that his trax5000 also just stopped working with the same screen display...insert SD card...Why would it just stop operating? I have tried reseting and nothing changed! Is there is an update or download to bypass sofware glich or something else...?

None of the things suggested have worked...I have sent the GPS in for repair!

You can try inserting an SD card, and see if that will get the unit operational. If you can't figure out where the SD slot is, take the unit into Best Buy, and one of their techs can show you, or let you know if it doesn't have one (most do). If the unit came with an SD card installed, it could be corrupt or the contact fingers could be slightly oxided, and the card can often be removed and reinserted, making good contact again. If the card is corrupted, try a different card, and see if that helps.
Try the reset button, if the device has one. If that doesn't work, the techs at Best Buy could probably know whether the unit is restorable or not, so take it into them and see if they will just do a quick assessment.
Wish I had more, but hope this helps.

I've had my Navigon 7100 GPS for 2 weeks now, little use, and today I got the fatal application error that MN6.exe was going to shut down. I have seen forums on this issue but nothing recent. The unit will...

I solved this problem.

The backup is just a copy of the files on the SD card. I made one a couple of months ago when everything was working ok. I tried to erase the SD card so I could restore the backup manually. I ran into an error with a SD card file that wouldn't erase. I ended up formatting the SD card then copying the old backup files to it. That took care of the problem and now the Navigon works the way it's supposed to.

Not seeming to read SD map Data Card anymore

I have seen this before, if you turn off the unit while its saving data such as your last position or your last destination, especially if you shut it down while its still navigating. the card data can get corrupted. the only way to fix this is to reload the map data. Fine Digital is out of business so I created a DVD that has the last issue of map data and firmware for these units. you can find this dvd on ebay by searching for finedrive dvd. its way cheaper than what fine digital used to sell upgrade dvds for ( $150)

Putting maps on sd memory card

(Untried)
For C330 owners that want to have both Canada and US 2008 map update on their GPS this is what you have to do.

Must have:
1 - Street pilot C330

2 - 512mb SD card
3 - SD card reader of some form (some cameras will suffice)
4 - Garmin 2008 Map Update North America

What to DO:

1 - connect the GPS to the computer
2 - Insert the Map update disk
3 - Install the Lower 48 states, United States
(Reason - the C330 has around 1000mb of memory and the "US 48 states" map uses around 900mb" while Canada uses 400mb...which is why you will need that 512mb SD card later)

4 - Once the GPS is updated with the US map. Browse the Map update disk contents. This can be done with going to "My Computer" right click on your CD/DVD drive and click on "Explore"

5 - Open the folder called "img"

6 - Copy the file called "gmappromU.img" file is around 430mb. (This is the map file for Canada)

7 - Insert your SD card into your card reader and connect it to your computer. A window should pop up. If not you should see it on your "My Computer"

8 - Once you have navigated your way into the SD card directory. Create a folder on the SD card named "garmin" (no caps)

9 - Go into your newly created "garmin" folder right click and paste the "gmappromU.img" file. (This may take upto 20 to 30 mins)

10 - Once the process is complete, Rename the "gmappromU.img" file to --> "gmapsupp.img" (watch for spelling, no caps at all)

11 - Remove the SD card, Turn off your GPS, Insert SD card into GPS.

12 - Turn on GPS, let it load, and there you have it, the FULL North America Map.

When you are searching a state or province (depending where you are located) it will give you an option which map to use, Canada/Alaska or the lower 48 US states. Select your map and you are set to Go.

GPS Won't Turn On

If its a battery problem the unit still works while charging!

If not it sounds like the OS or SD card has become corrupt.

you'll have to wipe both clean & start again...

tomtom will talk you through this either via an email or on the phone.

TOMTOM 510 not reading SD card

I did find out how to solve the problem. I can't remember exactly where I found the solution but I think it was on TOMTOM website. You have to connect to TOMTOM home and reinstall the application. I put the TOMTOM disc in the computer (which came with purchase) and reinstalled the program. Which I thought was weird as everything appeard to be fine with TOMTOM home). Anyway, it worked. Good luck.
